So what is your point, are you going to tell me that Gulbis is a consistent player and he can't do better than he does? of course he can but two weeks ego losing vs Robredo who is almost retírated and today playing very well or maybe he looked better due to his opponent is not going through his best time and level? at least tell me something with some logic about what I'm saying

Nobody would say Gulbis is consistent. However, just because he was inconsistent, you don't get the right to deny that he was injured. They don't give protected rankings without actual injuries that take the player out of action.

I thought this will be an upset free day. But actually there were four upsets. The big one being the tower of Tandil taken out by a bearded man. We also have Tower of Greensboro falling to Dudi Sela. Two other Americans were on opposite sides of upsets. Donaldson was an upsetter taking out Lorenzi. Sock was an upsette taken out by debutant.

After two rounds, of the 32 seeds who were supposed to reach the third round, 11 of them did not make it. That is not too bad considering 21 out of 32 is almost like 66% (compare this to WTA :lol6: ).

I haven't say that he was not injured but usually even being healthy he never has been consistent , that's my point

Excuse me. Go back and read your own post. You clearly said "He wasn't".

I really like the guy, he has character. And a better backhand than forehand. In fact his forehand is one of the weirdest shots in the game.

When he is on, he is on, remember that QF against Fed at RG? It doesn't happen very often though.

He's completely changed that airplane forehand motion so hopefully he'll be doing better now if he stays healthy also. It was crazy before alright though.

My bad, of course when he has been injured he has not played....duh....I tried to say that Gulbis not always has been injured, he has played healthy and still he has not been able to play two good matches in a row

Without playing two good matches in a row, he reached SF at RG. While Gulbis cannot be accused of being consistent, it is not that he cannot play two good matches in a row either.

Likewise, what's your point? Robredo beat prime Djokovic at the 2014 Cinci masters.

If everybody should become a multislam winner, we should have slam tourneys every week and even that may not be sufficient.

Ofner pulled off a real upset, as did Sela. Is Gulbis really an upset over DelPo, given his current state? Great match by Ernie, what I saw. He's an enigma, but fantastic when he's on. And there was lots of palaver about DelPotro as the 3rd round against Djokovic, but I don't think most saw him getting past. Gulbis should be a better match.

Take three years off to Robredo, what's your point?

Robredo was still well past his prime 3 years ago so what's your point? Going back to Gulbis, no, he was never that consistent even when healthy but he's had a lot of injuries lately: shoulder, left arm, wrist and calf for a start. Hopefully behind him now. Not many guys have won a 6-1 set v Nadal on clay either (Rome 2013). The guy is super talented. Manages to make a few too many errors when leading but he's not alone there and has always given Nadal very tough matches. Never won for the reasons above but he's won a lot of high profile matches.

For day 5, I think there are 0 chances of upset in 5 of 8 matches.

The other three matches and my estimation of chances of upset in them are given below.

JJ taking out Benoit Paire. 60%
SQ taking out Tsonga 40%
Khachanov taking out Rafa 20%

I didn't see much, but Gulbis played very very well. DelPo just hasn't looked fearsome for quite some time.

I expect Saturday to be a relatively quiet day free of upsets, like today. There are some chances that Mannarino might take out Monfils, who always openly says that he does not like grass.
