It is rather sad that folks whose games are well suited to grass, such as Kyrgios and Lopez, had to bow out due to injuries right in the opening round.

It is a shame, as both looked to feature well, Nick especially. Kyrgios came in carrying injury, but it seems that Lopez hurt his left foot during the match. In Spanish press, Feli said (essentially) "It sucks that this happened to me right here." Indeed.

Mayer - Cilic could be interesting. Tough draw for both of them.

JJ finished the job of sending Lucas home. That was the lone upset of the day.

So far, 7 seeds have been buried.

Good for ol' JJ. I think they said it's been since AO 2015 that's he's gotten past the 1st round of a Major.

Day 4 appears to be an upset free day. Of minor upset potential are the matches of Grigor vs. Baghdatis and Raonic vs. Youzhny.
Both Baghdatis and Youzhny are actually close to retirement from the game. But, they are veterans and given an inch, they will take a mile and close it out (especially if Raonic is physically injured and Grigor is mentally injured).

Dimitrov closed the door with authority but Gulbis and Kukushkin are working hard. In fact, an "expected upset" is not a BIG upset, is it? It is for real when it is out of the blue.

Indeed, it looks like Gulbis might be catching some fire again.

How on earth did they manage to not put Gulbis - DP on either centre court or no 1 court?

Gulbis... remember those old days on tennis.com where Gulbis was perpetually put forward as a serious contendor @Denis?

I really like the guy, he has character. And a better backhand than forehand. In fact his forehand is one of the weirdest shots in the game.

When he is on, he is on, remember that QF against Fed at RG? It doesn't happen very often though.

I mentioned this in another thread. He's drawing inspiration from his countrywoman Ostapenko.

Isner gave out of gas...he had more trouble with Dudi serve then vice versa..what an absolutely horrible performance by Isner..he lost to a guy he is twice the size of..there's no fight anymore in that former Georgia dawg
