Yeah, no momentum for either guy. Luckily I am not staying up late for this LOL Hopefully the next match will be better.

I left and went grocery shopping. All I wanted was a good match. Matches like that make me feel like I've wasted several hours.

I was thinking the same. Poor Tomas...Nole is well and firmly in his head. If he could even have taken the first set, he'd have that monkey off his back. He won't be sleeping very well tonight.

I seriously don't get Tomas, he needs more than a coach he needs a therapist to get over the hump. It's sad to see.

Huge, tricky game here to consolidate the break or get back on serve. And he consolidates! This is a very calm, committed Monfils.

In his interview he said he was focusing more on building the point than playing solely on instinct. It seems to be working for him thus far. Now maybe he can get with Donald Young and a slew of others who don't play the big points properly. So much talent on the ATP tour, but many of the mindsets are feeble.

I'll be honest, I don't think of Berdych as a champion. He's a really, really good also-ran. The fact that he's got a block against Djokovic is not the biggest of his problems. Maybe a sports psychologist could give him more belief and he could go bigger when he's got the chance. Today, with Djokovic looking decidedly shaky and serving really poorly, he let himself get into rallies with Novak. Ill-advised. He occasionally wins big matches against top players, but he's mostly too reticent for that.

Better late than never for La Monf. He's a very talented player and athlete. I'd love to see him do some damage and get some good titles.

Raonic has become such a more agile player, but he's no match for Monfils, who seems to have harnessed his best, and left-off the show boating. Maybe he's realized it fun, even when he's not showing off.

He wins it with an ace. That was a stunning display of focus from Gael. Good to see! I've always disliked folks dissing him for a "clown."

Sets up two great semis: Djokovic v. Monfils, Nishikori v. Wawrinka.

I didn't see the match but good to hear Gael playing his best tennis.

Semis should be entertaining.
Two great athletes to face off. Of the two, Monfils was the more focussed and sturdier today. Let's see if he can bring that tomorrow. Djokovic is going to have to serve better, and be less flat-footed.

Well Gael is backing up his words from yesterday. I don't think anybody had seen him more focused in a match like this before. Great job. If both players bring the same game tomorrow, Gael should win.

That's true enough. I don't think it hurts Novak at all if he loses. Gets a break and prepares for the Olympics. It would be great for Gael, though. We'll see how sturdy this new Monfils is, I guess.

I agree 100%. I just like Berdych, mostly for his consistency. For one thing he hasn't thrown in the towel and slid down the rankings like some players do, (see Baghdatis). It has to be hard to be a perennial also-ran, but kudos to him for continuing to try to fight. Everyone has something that I admire; for Berdy, it's that he hasn't given up completely. He keeps putting himself into position and I applaud him for that.

I know, can you believe that his last title was his first 500? That's unbelievable.

I was one of those people and I'm glad Monfils is proving me wrong. I felt that he was disrespecting the game by not competing and using his tremendous talents. In many articles he spoke about "putting on a show" for the crowd and neglected to mention that this is his livelihood and he has the ability to do so much more. Still, I've always liked Le Monf because he seems like a genuinely nice person who would be fun to hang out with.

This new Monfils (I hope it lasts) is right up my alley. Entertain the audience, sure, but get some of the hardware that you're more than capable of winning. I would love to see that.

I know. Hopefully he's serious this time. He wanted that one coach and he finally got him, so here's hoping that the union will be profitable.

The Czechs missed their chances to beat No1e who forgot to play tennis during the break. No1e will hopefully recollect his knowledge before the semifinal against Monfils who won't miss the chance if he has it ... or he will too.
