I wasn't able to see this. Did Novak look fit to you? How was his serve

Mary, his serve was a bit better than in the previous round. But he is still serving in the range of 180-190 km/h. In his interview for Serbian TV, he said that he expected to be a little rusty as this is the first hard court tournament since Miami. The courts are playing fast so he doesn't have a lot of time to get into points, but he is gradually getting there. Radek was so entertaining.

Here is what Nole said at the end about the dueling violins:

Wawrinka is on fire, yes Anderson is not serving well at all, but credit to Stan. His form is getting better and better.

Many thanks for the video - great to see them enjoying themselves. Radek is one of my favourites - always entertaining.
I might catch Novak this time but it's very late UK time. Everything crossed for him!

You are welcome, during Rogers cup we have our own broadcasters here in Canada so we have more tennis news and interviews than normally. The sideline reporter had an interview with Radek where he talked about last year and how tough it was for him to come back. He had pain going through his leg and it took a while for the nerves to heal. He lost some muscle strength in his leg so naturally he is happy that he still can compete. In the rest of the on court interview Nole gave Radek a lot of credit for what he was able to do after a very tough year last year.

The match tonight will be at 6:30pm local time, for you it's 11:30pm. I didn't get a chance to see Tomas play as he only played the doubles with Radek on Wednesday. This is my last day of watching the Rogers cup as I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and I will miss all of Saturday's action. But good luck to Nole. I just want him to build his form gradually and to have as little physical discomfort as possible. For me personally USO is the most important tournament of this summer. :)

All top 5 seeds are through to the quarter final, so the organizers can be happy with that. Stan is already in the semi final as he just beat Kevin Anderson in straight sets. :good:

Radek played really well on grass here this summer. He is amazing - great technique and always a threat to higher ranked players. Nole always gives credit to other players, I've never heard him be anything but generous, win or lose. I hope he can win here and keep his points well ahead of Murray but like you I think the US is the big one.
Have a good holiday,
Mary

I thought Grigor was going to take Kei out as he had some momentum in the 2nd set. This is still a good result for him. Should be a nice one between Stan and Kei.

Tomas is 0/2 and Nole 1/1 in break points. It's so important to take your chances when they are presented to you.

And he finally breaks him. Terrible serving by Nole, again for the set. A bad habit developing there.

WTH is wrong with Berdy? He plays the big points terribly.

Pretty bad set from both guys. Berdych should have taken at least one of those 3 set points. It's amazing what nerves can do to a person.

Just glancing at the score, see Berdy up in the tiebreak. Finish playing my game, which requires concentration, look up and he loses the set! That's just a lack of confidence. Poor Berdy, it seems he'll never get over the hump.

Now he's really playing bad. Nole has rust all over him. It'll never get better for Berdych, if he can't take these chances he doesn't deserve the win.

Yeah, no momentum for either guy. Luckily I am not staying up late for this LOL Hopefully the next match will be better.

I was thinking the same. Poor Tomas...Nole is well and firmly in his head. If he could even have taken the first set, he'd have that monkey off his back. He won't be sleeping very well tonight.

Huge, tricky game here to consolidate the break or get back on serve. And he consolidates! This is a very calm, committed Monfils.
