thanks , Tennis Fan for yhour posts.

i am now wondering how RAFA is coming along in his preparations and for RIO ? it's a great thing to know that he's committed since we know that with his recent big setbacks - he himself has admitted that some of his entries to certain tournaments were ''too soon" . and if he commits to such an important event - that gives hope actually - because it could mean he IS feeling physically very close to ''fresh" and ready to battle it out to the hilt.

for me , anyway -- from the way i see rafa as a professional and champion . he doesn't do things ''half-way" - and doing things AT ALL - in his sport - means ''to the hilt" when it comes to rafa. and THAT means - to commit to rio could indicate he is feeling GOOD physically and even eager.

and that's the rafa we miss!

come on RAFA! TENNIS needs you -- and your great rivals NEED you . you've been missed at your best!

I don't think it's going as well as they thought it would. It appears that it was healing pretty good, but after hitting with Andy, there appears to be a bit of a setback. Rafa's expectations seem to be lower and there's a possibility that he won't play singles, only doubles and mixed. It sounds like he doesn't want to put too much stress on the wrist at this time. Last I read, Rafa wants to play in the Olympics above all else, since this may his last chance at being competitive, but I guess it's not to be. Everything happens for a reason. As long as he's fine, so am I.

THANK YOU for educating me! i love learning about these things - i was just generalizing about ''slavics as eastern" -- in relation to ''western'' europe of the anglo-celtic-norman-frankian-scandinavian-nordic groups...

who are also generally under the ''protestant/catholic/evangelical" kind of ''christianity". -- as opposed to the more broadly orthodox christian ''east" of the slavic peoples..(although I know that poland and slovakia, also czechs are more catholic) .

oh -- once more -- CONGRATS to NOLE for his 30th masters just as he is nearing his 30th birthday//isn't that amazing/\ ?

Why people don't use the 4 letter word to truthfully describe those groups - Huns?

Yes, 30 Masters titles > 29 years. Amazing!

while i've always been fascinated about cultures. geography, history -- including of course europeans -- (am asian) -

my understanding is still just general.

They were originally mixture of white people and some Asians. They also mixed a lot with Slavs. Among white people those who speak Germanic, Turkic and Ugro-Finnic languages are of Hun origin. I don't know which Asian people were considered Huns, you should have better idea about it.

From a British perspective, the "huns" were regarded as the Germans, particularly harking back to World War II. Most of the propoganda leaflets you see in museums refer to 'The Hun".

oh -- i see. .thanks for that too, Britbox...
i did have at least a vague recollection that way - at least from general world history classes...it's just that with the times we are in ...these things seem to have become more ''topic'' worthy ..and so it's good to be more sharply informed.

and we go back to :who were they ? where did people come from, what people came from them ? what are the countries now?

so - sort of ...''germanic" then?
