Vika really lost her nerve after that match point that was called out that looked like an ace. She let it get into her head way too close to the finish line. Either way that was a fun match and she should feel good about how she performed overall.

Oh wow. The breaker was kind of anti-climatic after those last few service games.

Once she flunked the mp's and then df'd twice at the horror of it all, this match was only short a pat on the a$$ on the way out. I like Vika, but this match isn't unusual for women's tennis...

I am sure there were nerves and emotions on Serena's part. Vika has played her tough before. Also, this is the first time she has played Vika since Sascha moved over to her team. I am sure there was a little bit of that on her mind. I would find it weird to see a former team mate in my opponent's box at least initially.

yeah Serena looked very tense in the first set...I am sure the gloating that Vika and Sascha do on twitter annoys her dont blame her for unfollowing them. This is a good win for Serena just to bury the Sascha ghost once and for all...

this early i would say its Madrid again for Maria.
Not so fast. Maria has lost to Caroline the last few times they played. I think this one will be close and could very well go the way of the Dane.

I agree with you, except the closeness part.

I believe their last match at the tour finals went deep in the 3rd set

Caro is playing well on clay and has beaten pova twice before this upcoming match ...pova is not playing confident tennis.
I will say Caro has an advantage...
