I am sure there were nerves and emotions on Serena's part. Vika has played her tough before. Also, this is the first time she has played Vika since Sascha moved over to her team. I am sure there was a little bit of that on her mind. I would find it weird to see a former team mate in my opponent's box at least initially.
yeah Serena looked very tense in the first set...I am sure the gloating that Vika and Sascha do on twitter annoys her dont blame her for unfollowing them. This is a good win for Serena just to bury the Sascha ghost once and for all...

Really , she unfollowed both of them.. Why.. She is on a path to be the all time GS champion.. I would like to Serena began to take the high road.. (maybe I a just getting older but I think that is how a champion of her caliber should behave,) IMO

I think this is how she already behaves. For example, when Sloane and Sharapova each made various comments to the press within the last couple of years, Serena responded with class, IMO. Going back to IW was also her taking the high road. These are the first examples which come to mind, but I think you see where I'm going.

she did...:snicker...they act very childish on twitter and Sascha acts disgruntled about his firing.Serena and Vika s handshake was not as friendly as it used to be....there is obvious tension between the two.:popcorn

Not so fast. Maria has lost to Caroline the last few times they played. I think this one will be close and could very well go the way of the Dane.

You were absolutely right - It was a very close match and the Dane very well could have won - I'm however happy that my favorite Russian won instead - Sorry hoergren :)

Figured it would be. Haven't watched the match yet (it's on way too early here), but from the looks of it, Maria has worked on her serve some. Serving a harder/more effective 2nd serve. It's likely winning her the close matches this week.

Don't think so. :nono It's a moral victory for CSN not to eat a bagel today.

Extremely close match on Arantxa. Lucie takes opener 7-5. Sveta takes TB 7-5. Now we're in the the decider, where Lucie grabs the early break 1-0

And that's not an exaggeration. In 4 out of 5 of their previous encounters, bagels were served. Interestingly, though, the lone exception was here, in Madrid.

2010 - AUSTRALIAN OPEN:
Serena Williams -- 6-0, 6-3

2013 - ROME:
Serena Williams -- 6-2, 6-0

2013 - US OPEN:
Serena Williams -- 6-0, 6-0

2014 - MADRID:
Serena Williams -- 6-2, 6-3

2015 - MIAMI:
Serena Williams -- 6-2, 6-0

It took a little over three hours, but Kuznetsova wins 7-6(3) in the third, saving two MPs. :clap

That's another long 3-setter. She won't have anything left for Sharapova tomorrow.

You don't have to excuse her win - it's deserved today, but Caroline is a lot better this year on clay, so let's see them in the final of Roland Garros  Hope Masha goes all the way here in Madrid;) Good luck.

Everyone who thought Kvitova would be in the Madrid semis raise your hand! Way to go Petra! :clap Skipping March was maybe just what the doctor ordered. Gonna be tough to be Serena on clay though.

Yeah, Serena and Vila use to be tight, they were "down like 4 flat tires"..if there is new tension between them, this last match will not bridge the gap ..Glad Serena won but I like to see any player choke like that

We have only GS champs left in the draw. Moreover all have won RG except Kvitova.

The first SF is easy to predict. No way, Kvitova can win against Serena, especially not on clay.

The second one is more interesting.

Kuzentsova has not made some noise for a long time. Hope she can make some against the noise maker.
