only for injury, not for pregnancyI think Serena has protected ranking which allows her to enter tournaments without wild cards. It’s dumb to seed strictly based on rankings.

If it was Roger, you would be one of many who would be whinning.
Interesting, though. If they want to keep women in the game, they might consider allowing them to have a life and children without having to sacrifice their tennis careers. Why not give a PR for pregnancy? Perhaps an idea who's time has come.only for injury, not for pregnancy

Exactly. PR just prevents them from having to go back to playing qualifiers. They still have to fight through the draw, but why punish women for having children and still wanting to play tennis?I support this idea. Serena will not be affected as everybody will be interested in give her a wild card into any tourney that she wants to play in. But, lesser players will be affected. A PR will certainly help them. Folks should remember that PR only gets you into the tourney and does not give you seeding. Seeding is always based on current ranking no matter how abysmal it may be (except for Wimbledon of course).

It is definitely very sad but it isn't just tennis greats we've been losing over the last few years, it's been entertainment greats full stop not only in sport like Jana Navotna & Muhammed Ali but also entertainment as a whole like Bruce Forsyth & comedy like Ken Dodd not to mention music like Glen Campbell. Quite a few mathematicians & scientists have sadly left us too like John Nash & Stephen Hawking.I heard about that earlier. Very said indeed. We've lost a few tennis greats over the last 4-5 years.
Yes. We've lost many others. We definitely have. I just don't know what to say anymore. My point was just that it's not just tennis players we've lost. I didn't want to discuss in detail but thank you very much for the information. I'll bear it in mind. I'm very sorry for littering up your tennis thread.Yes. We've lost many others.
