Thank you very much for your information. Hygge sounds like a nice, relaxing way of life. I might look into it more & try it out.
That's interesting. My favourite Viking mythological creature is Sleipnir who was Odin's horse & had 8 legs. I'd like to thank you for your information yet again. I haven't read fairy tales for years. According to some people Santa Clause was based on Odin. ;0)
Well thank you - never know when you learn something you just have to be open minded. As you are interested in the Nordic gods you maybe wants to know about YULE too - so here it is with the help of Wiki:
Yule is the modern of the Old English words ġéol or ġéohol and ġéola or ġéoli, with the former indicating the 12-day festival of "Yule" (later: "Christmastide") and the latter indicating the month of "Yule", whereby ǽrra ġéola referred to the period before the Yule festival (December) and æftera ġéola referred to the period after Yule (January). Both words are thought to be derived from Common Germanic *jeχʷla-, and are cognate wih Gothic (fruma) jiuleis; Old Norse, Icelandic, Faroese and Norwegian Nynorsk jól, jol, ýlir; Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian Bokmål jul. The etymological pedigree of the word, however, remains uncertain, though numerous speculative attempts have been made to find Indo-European cognates outside the Germanic group, too.[3] The noun Yuletide is first attested from around 1475.
The word is attested in an explicitly pre-Christian context primarily in Old Norse. Among many others, the long-bearded god Odin bears the names jólfaðr (Old Norse for "Yule father") and jólnir ("the Yule one"). In plural (Old Norse jólnar, "the Yule ones") may refer to the Norse gods in general. In Old Norse poetry, the word is often employed as a synonym for 'feast', such as in the kenning hugins jól (Old Norse "Huginn's Yule" → "a raven's feast")
All in all the old gods are quite interesting in the way people used the gods to help them in old days - that is before app. 980. Well in a way you have to believe in something eg. yourself. I'm a non religious person as far as I know - but you never know do we? Have a nice Yule and keep the Yuletide bright heated by the Yulelog.
