Well I just find it more than a little pathetic that someone supposedly as great as Nadal even takes notice of such "also-rans;" giving them status above all others who really challenge him! Very sad and pathetic! :nono :puzzled :laydownlaughing

Good post as always.

It's easy to point out the insufferable attitude of Nadal and his sycophants; on one hand talking about "he's the GOAT," but on the other his court demeanor is the worst with stalling, taking on coaching from the stands, calling of trainers, challenging every call against him and being wrong, and of course allowing players not in his class taking him to the limit! His sense of entitlement has infuriated me since he was a teenager! Only Nole has been able to halfway tame him, initially using his tactics against him, now outright "outhitting" him for the most part! :clap :laydownlaughing

Absolutely. Fully agreed.

Thank you! At least someone has my back! :clap :laydownlaughing

I have a bridge in Brooklyn I could sell you, too.

^ Why run away? I asked you direct questions, and responded to your points, which I don't think you've addressed. It may have escaped your notice, but emoticons and exclamation points don't actually form an argument.

I'm really happy with Kyrgios. Comes back from 2-0 sets and saves 9 MPs. He had every excuse in the book to fold, especially against quality opposition like Gasquet, but to his credit, he fought back and delivered one of the most memorable wins for Australian tennis in many years. This really is a brilliant victory. So much drama, too, and so much quality tennis.

I'm glad for Nadal, too. He was clearly outclassed for the first and a half, but he managed to keep his composure whilst Rosol slowly dropped off and Nadal upped the ante. Rafa really couldn't do anything when Rosol was hitting winners left, right, and centre. It was so freakishly good, but I knew Rosol wouldn't have maintained it throughout the rest of the match. It was a real mental win, this one, and I think it'll give him a lot of confidence heading into the next round. I can't see Nadal losing in the next few rounds now.

Good wins for Wawrinka and Federer.

he's going to do his thing no matter where it takes him, he really thought he could win again..(and why not).

He played well alright and I remember him being labeled a clown for no apparent reason in 2012 for playing the best match he'd ever played and yesterday he was one point from 2 sets to zip again. So much for the easy straight sets win many predicted. The age tennis players are still playing till these days, he still has time to get more consistent and make another statement yet.

If Rosol snatched that second set, I say he would have won that match in 3 or 4. To think he was up a break, too, and gave away the set on a DF. Tennis really is a game of few points sometimes.

Sure is, just ask Isner or Karlovic. They either barely win or barely lose 90% of the time.

No one called him a clown, except for Darth, yesterday. And even Rafa says things might have gone differently had he lost that TB. I think everyone appreciates good play when they see it.

The norm is to take your disappointment out on your favourite player if they lose, not calling the winner a clown but that was not the case there in 2012. Soderling was labelled a clown also in 2009 by some Nadal fan, can't recall who but likely the same person.

No one called him a clown, Front. You're just making that up.

I'm not making anything up tented, I'm talking about 2012 not yesterday.

So am I. Show me evidence someone called him a clown, and I'll believe it. And please don't do the "just because it can't be proved it happened doesn't mean it didn't happen" excuse.

It was on the tennis.com forum and your best advice rather than incorrectly telling me I made it up is ask a few posters here because someone called both Rosol and Soderling clowns. The post was something along the lines of don't worry, Nadal will beat that clown in straights the next time they play. And please don't do the "you're making this up" excuse.

Huntingyou wasn't around from mid-2011 through 2012, and most of 2013.

Then it was AP. One or the other.

It's 1000 times worse when the fanbase of the player who lost are so ungracious as to label the guy who beat their favourite player a clown.

I agree.

To tented, Moxie: I don't know if the "clown" word was used, but both Soderling and Rosol were indeed on the receiving end on some harsh words from Nadal fans that were along those lines.
