"Great" news if the grass is playing super slow. Maybe they wanted their golden boy to survive the first few rounds.

Roger?

Nah, the one that benefits from much slower conditions. Not to name names.

Just because Kieran's not around, doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful throwing around the term "Golden Boy."

:laydownlaughing :snigger

That's a little much; even for me and no one likes to be as different when at all possible! More like one of those Birkins bag or purse! Hideous!

Roger seems very comfortable in that attire.. I guess it works for him..

They sure didn't slow down the grass to help Roger no? It has only hurt him. I doubt he only has 7 on the fast grass.

Come On.. You know who he is referring to the King of Grass(slow).. the Dirt Devil himself:devil

He is no king of grass, but he has overachieved on the surface with some help from the organizers. I'd love to have the grass back to the 90's, good attacking tennis gets its reward.

Mueller's gonna be a tough opponent for Federer next as is Rosol for Nadal. Both have very good serves and powerful ground strokes. Didn't realize Mueller was 6' 4" 92kg actually but he's very good on grass. Certainly a LOT tougher than both their first matches.

He's not even close to being the king of that either. Bad enough he has 1 impenetrable domain. I know you liked the Pistol, surprised you are so against the good old days. Suppose it wouldn't fit well with your new adopted favorite

Darth, when has " overachieved" been designated a bad thing or hinderance.Thats just like saying that you spent a getaway weekend with Jessica Alba and was smart enough to bring along some ginseng tea to help your mojo. As long as you keep the lady:D very happy who cares how you did it as long as you got it done. What do you want Rafa to do , give back his TWO SW19 titles cause Fed is a better grass court player.. You wouldnt tell Jessica it was the ginsing instead of your hardwork and effort. Rafael worked his ass for those titles and I dont give a damn if he isnt the greatest grass court player of all time as long as at the end of the day he is the last Man standing holding the champion's trophy.. Isnt that what the game is about.. Relax, Rafa paid his dues and is a very deserving champion.

You've been watching way too much X-Files, my friend, if you think the organizers have helped Rafa succeed. :lolz:

This is true.. I was a huge McEnroe fan and bigger Pete fan.. however during the days of Pete's dominance.. the Richard Krachieks, Goran Ivos really brought the game down abit for me. As for Rafa, he is a warrior. I just think we should all appreciate him instead of looking at him like a fly in oinment

I'd say it'd take a lot more than just ginseng tea to help most men keep Jessica Alba happy! :laydownlaughing:lolz:

Their change to the surface helped him out a ton, there is no question about that. And despite Roger winning a lot there I think he could have more than 7 of the past 11 on properly fast/low bouncing Wimbledon of yesteryear.

I'm just joking around in implying that they changed the surface because they wanted to help Nadal. It was just an unfortunate consequence of their desire to see long baseline battles on grass :snigger

Maybe overachieved doesn't fit there. I think he has won 2 more than he would have won without the director's sad decision to change the ball and surface.

But shouldn't the GOAT be able to win on any surface, regardless of speed and bounce? ;) :snigger

Hey, wait -- you're not implying the surface should be changed back in order to favor a certain player, are you?

Well the clay on Chatrier is as slow as ever and grass is meant to be faster but right now there's not a huge difference except for the lesser courts at each slam. The centre courts at Wimbledon and Chatrier are way slower than the rest at both slams.

Roger won a decent amount on the grass less suited for him, no? :)

It's also common knowledge that the homogenisation of the courts is not welcomed by many players, not only Roger. There's meant to be a much more pronounced difference between surface than there is these days and what they've done is really working to the detriment of the sport for many. It's no longer half as much about shot making as it is stamina and that sucks.
