It's mostly about sticking to the aggressive game plan. If Murray does that he has a chance, more than a chance at Wimbledon. I'd have him joint favourite personally at Wimbledon. And that's mostly 'cos Federer is back from surgery and injury to knee and back. I'd sadly expect him to beat Roger given how little he's played all year. In fairness, Djokovic has been there for the taking on many occasions, eg against Kevin Anderson. Opponents just falter when it counts and bottle it. Big Kev hadn't served double faults or lost serve all match and then bottled it at the end.

I expect another horrendous Murray v Djokovic final. Seems Murray plays less passive on grass 'cos the serve wins him more points and keeps him in a more aggressive mood so that's why he has a much better than average shot at beating Djokovic here.

With Berdych losing today, one thing is clear, he will not be seeded in the top 8 for Wimbledon, no matter what happens going forward in Queens or Halle.
Both Gasquet and Raonic carry more bonus pints from 2014-15 seasons on grass and both of them will pass him.

Gasquet and Raonic are considerably ahead of Berdych on grass formula points. I think the toss-up was between Thiem and Berdych and it is very clear that Thiem has won that toss-up (he may widen the margin as he is still in the draw at Halle). I am glad to see Berdych not getting a seeded spot (although I would say the samething about Gasquet and Raonic as well) and that spot going to Thiem.

If not he can BBQ his injured ribs and munch on them. Poor guy is made of glass.

dreddy brown got a Wimbledon wildcard today..i thought the rank cut off date was june 6th..?

brown was/is ranked in the 80s..high enough for direct entry into main draw,

but obviously Wimbledon took a cue from a previous rank chart when dreddy brown was around 120 rank.

Rank cut off for any tourney is from 6 weeks before the tourney starts.

June 6th rankings were cut off for Olympics and not for Wimby.

Brown, Stepanek and 3 British nobodies got WC at Wimby. Both Brown and Stepanek deserve it very much. Three more slots are open.

As usual Novak is not playing in the warm-ups. Let us see how the other top players are getting ready to break the monopoly of Novak.

1. Fed could not even win Stuttgart.
2. Andy barely ekes out a win in opener with two TB sets.
3. Stan goes out in opener in Queens
4. Berdcyh goes out in opener in Halle
5. Nishikori retires with injuries.
6. Gasquet goes out in opener to unheralded player.
7. Rafa withdrew from Wimby.

Not to mention that Tsonga withdrew from Queens and Monfils from Halle.

So, it looks like Novak's outlook improved even from the time RG ended. :cover

The top 4 seeds are now officially set for Wimbledon. 1. Novak, 2. Andy 3. Fed and 4. Stan.
But, the fight for the other 4 top 8 spots are still on. Here are the leaders in that fight as of midnight June 15th; the points listed are grass court formula points.

5. Nishikori (4380)
6. Gasquet (3738)
7. Raonic* (3595)
8. Thiem* (3543)
9. Cilic* (3325)
10. Berdych (3198)
11. Goffin* (3073)

The starred players are still live in the draw at Queens/Halle. Both Cilic and Raonic seem to have easy path to SF at Queens. Therefore, in particular if Thiem loses to Kohly in QF, he may lose out on the top 8 seed (hope it does not happen, he deserves a spot). Only thing we can say for sure now is that Berdych will not be a top 8 seed.

Ticket prices for Murray's matches are double those of Djoke's. When Fed's schedule is known, there will be huge changes. This year, seats are much more expensive. I am guessing this is because fans think it may be Fed's last Wimby

What does that say about their intelligence? Murray's game actually more boring than Nole's! Andy's act on court just gets on my nerves; give me dull and quiet Nole anytime! His level doesn't go up and down as much!

Federer has already signed up for Stuttgart 2017 so this is most definitely not his last Wimbledon :) I'd say 2018 may be his last Wimbledon personally.

They're patriotic I guess. He's Scottish when he loses but British when he wins :p It's always been this way with them over in the UK. The height of silliness :cover

The fight is still on between Raonic, Cilic and Thiem. Thiem and Raonic have easier matches at SF than Cilic who has to play Andy. So, for all practical purposes, seeds 5 through 8 will be Nishikori, Gasquet, Raonic and Thiem (in some order amongst themselves).

After the semifinals are set, apparently further calculation of different scenario gives rise to the following facts.

1. Nishikori and Raonic are already guaranteed to get a top 8 seeding independent of what happens in the remaining matches at Queens and Halle.

2. One of Gasquet, Thiem and Cilic will be left out of the top 8. Thiem, as well as Cilic, can ensure a top 8 seeding by winning their respective SF matches (Thiem should have easier time as he had a day's rest and an easy opponent in the form of Forian Meyer; Cilic has to play Andy). In order for Gasquet to get a top 8 seed, at least one of Cilic/Thiem has to lose their SF match.

p.s. I am rooting for Thiem and Cilic to make it and Gasquet, the perennial choker, to get relegated.

As both Cilic and Thiem lost, Gasquet gets a top 8 seed. As Cilic is behind Thiem, he loses out on top 8 seeding.

The bottom 4 of the top 8 seeds are now confirmed (even though the exact order among them, which is immaterial for draw purposes is not). They are Nishikori, Raonic, Gasquet and Thiem (most probably in that order as well).

Glad that Thiem got a top 8 seed (for the first time in his life in a GS). :clap

It is time to remove Roger officially from the list of contenders. The way things are, I doubt that he can win Wimby even if someone else takes out Novak.

I think what we learned here is Fed got some bad advice about returning from injury. I suspect had he sat out clay season entirely and restarted training and play during grass season he may have fared better than he is currently.

May be so in hindsight. But, hindsight is 20/20.

He was not doing things like crazy. He heeded the signs and skipped IW, Miami and Madrid. I would not want to second guess him.

Also, when you are coming back from injury, you are worried and anxious to test out as to where you stand. That is one of the reasons why people come back quickly.
