I tend to concur that the best chance Roger has against Novak (and he is one of the few who can actually challenge him, particularly on grass) is in a semifinal. Even so, my money is on Novak to win his fifth straight major, a feat no one has accomplished in the Open Era I believe. He will be the first Triple Crown winner of the three surfaces in one year (not even Laver can claim that) and then we will head to New York, which will be a zoo.

Hope Murray'll win Wimbly, whoever he has to beat (even Brown or Rosol would satisfy me !!)

Here are the early odds for winning Wimbledon.

Novak --- 4/5
Andy ---- 19/5
Fed ------ 11
Raonic --- 22
Kyrgios --- 25
Stan ---- 27
Rafa ---- 40
JMDP ---- 66
Berdych/Gasquet/Tsonga --- 100.

Needless to point out that Novak's odds are less than 1 and it means he has better chances than the rest of the field combined.

Andy is not just ahead of Fed, but has substantially better odds. Also, looks like the bookies bought into the hype of JMac coaching Milos and so he is at #4. Rafa's odds are very generous and the reason it is to extract money from loyal Nadalites.

If you like percentages, this works out to 55% chances for Novak, 21% for Andy, 8% for Fed, 4% for Milos and less than that for all others.

Rafa is not going to play in Wimbledon, Roger is not ready to win anything, Berdych, Tsonga, Raonic (maybe Mac could help him more?) and Nishi should to strength their mentality, otherwise they can't win anything either. Then unless it would have a big surprise by the young ones which would be very improbable Muzz and Novak would reach the finals, very easy buy for the bookies
But at the end....who knows, bigger surprises we have seen before :eyepop

The only way Novak doesn't win Wimbledon is if someone "does a Cilic" and puts together a fluky ridiculous streak of several matches in a row. There simply aren't any players on tour right now that are capable of a consistently high level of play to seriously challenge Novak. Maybe someone like Kyrgios could catch him by surprise, but I think Novak will be locked in and ready to play.

One may need consistent high level of play to win Wimbledon. But, to take out Novak, one needs consistent high level of play in just one match. Many people, Simon, Belluci etc have come close before. They may get upset the very next round, but who cares. We want somebody to take out Novak, that's all.

But you have to be able to finish; unlike Simon who was on top of Nole who committed 100 UFE and still let the match get away from him! Kei was beating him on clay a few weeks ago and also allowed Djokovic to escape in a 3rd set TB! Murray was scary good in the 1st set of the FO, but he forgot how he beat him just a few weeks before in Rome! It's all in their head and Nole doesn't panic! As soon as you ease up or miss a volley, he grabs them by the throat and snatches victory from defeat! :dodgy: :p :snicker

I don't bring on slam #13 and Wimbledon #4 and #5 slam in a row and make a Calendar Slam still a possible dream. I want all the numbers. Also, while I am being a numbers whore I want slam #22 for Serena and #7 Wimbledon title also keep those consecutive weeks at number 1 alive girl. I want all the numbers! All of them!

Waffa in always possible.

Anyway, i would put Fed out of that list, he didnt play some time, injured...no way for him. Nadal also.
So this will be Djorray match with possible Waffa surprising on both sides, by Goffin, Thiem, Kyrgy is out for them - he cant stand 5 sets.

Andy did not forget how he won in Rome. He knew he'd won against a man who had faced two very difficult matches prior to the final, one against the king of clay, another against a very game samurai. The weather conditions in the final were not ideal and the world #1 was not taking any chances of injuring himself before the French Open ever started.

That was a huge difference from the Djokovic who played the French final, and for almost three sets treated the world #2 to what the "A" game looked like.

Let me introduce myself with a point that might just add a little bit of hope for the Murray or anti-Novak fans wanting a different outcome at SW19.

Novak has never won a set on grass against Murray (albeit they have only played 2 matches and Novak is a different beast now, but nonetheless there is something mental for Murray to cling on too)

According to l'Equipe Toni said his nephew's date of return was not known yet, his doctors "ll decide when he's 100% healthy
I guess he won't play Wimbly ???

Nadal's name would be a waste of space in the draw! Would a 1st round loss help his psyche any more than going out in the 2nd or 3rd round? It's not like he had a real chance of winning Wimbledon! :nono  :dodgy: :p

I sure hope someone reminds Murray of that and that he think that he should win, not maybe he could win. A lot of it is between the 8" court separating the ears. Novak has complete control and dominion over that 8" court; Murray needs to get there.

I have the same thoughts, his uncle says two days ego:"he is still recovering of the wrist injury and we don't want endanger his participation in the Olympics Games".
Well, he already has the Golden Medal but I hope his decision is correct and if he plays in Rio is because he is completely recovered and fitted, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense

so the Rio games are more important to Rafa than a grand slam title.. Maybe its me but that's asinine but that's Rafa and his team.. Unlike Rafa, The NBA players here are pulling out of the Rio games
because they want to be ready to prepare properly for the upcoming season.
