She needed the drugs because being a tough competitor doesn't mean she's a better or more talented athlete. All these girls needs to do is make Sharapova run. Jerk her around the court and tire her out. She's not the fittest or best athlete.
thats what I was thinking yesterday...run her corner to corner..I think this is the end of the road for Simon and her coach...

Really excellent stuff. Seems mentally fit too.
It took Osaka 65 minutes to defeat the defending champion 3 and 1
She always seems to pick it up when under highlights in big matches, I wish she would be more consistent in regular ones.

Pretty dismal record for Kerber in slams this year. Fading fast.

Oh, BTW:

As of 3:32 p.m. ET)

Due to the current weather forecast, which predicts continuous rain throughout the remainder of the day, the Tuesday day session, #3, has now been canceled for all matches outside of Arthur Ashe Stadium. All matches scheduled for Arthur Ashe Stadium will continue as planned.

Where is the fashion thread? Meldopova's glittering black lace dress was fantastic. I think the best ever including her own previous dresses.

Simona is never going to win a GS. This kind of all defense along with a powder puff serve will not get it done, even in WTA. After Simona won the second set, I thought Maria's level would come down in the third set due to no drugs in the system, but did not happen.

Now with the win over Halep, who was seeded #2, Maria will enjoy all the rights and privileges of the #2 seed for the rest of this tourney.
Would not be surprised if she wins this tourney also. Great opportunity with no Serena and a bunch of girls none of whom really seems to be interested in winning the trophy, except may be Garbage.

How about starting a fashion thread with the dress you like and then others will add to it.

Sloane v Cibby could be a good one. Sloane working her way back into contention and Cibby improving after a pretty poor year to date.

Kerber has been the shadow of herself for a long time now, don't know what happens to her but it's not glorious

Kerber couldn't handle the pressure of being the favorite. She has time to recover and get back to the top five.

I feel sorry for Halep. She was unlucky to draw MS in round one. Being that small and lacking variety make winning a slam tough except on clay.

Because #of slams won by Meldopova is more than million times the sum of the # of slams won by Coco and Riske. Just because both are americans does not mean they should be put in Ashe automatically. They should either be independently famous like Vee or should play a famous player.

I think it's ridiculously hilarious that Maria comes back to play and immediately Mugu and all the other slam winners are put out to pasture on outside courts.

its a disgrace for USTA to reward a drug cheat, imagine Americans like Isner,Coco Scone are all on the outside courts because of this dope fiend.
She must be on some new medicine...she took another bathroom break.

They did not give her wild card to put her in court 17. They want to make money. Actually, it makes sense once they decided to let her in. However, I am against them issuing a WC in the first place.

Meldopova has a clear path to SF. I don't see anyone capable of taking her out in her quarter. Hopefully, Garbage will show her the door in SF.

Maybe you think you are funny when you keep calling Muguruza that ugly name but you are insulting a Basque beautiful first name Garbiñe (I'm sure you don't know anything about the Basque Country, the great culture and language) and also insulting me because I'm Basque too.

Wozniacki about to lose to Makarova. She has ZERO weapons to hurt anybody. How in the hell is she even recently as high as #5 in the world? SMH...
