Just to remind you that there is a battle going on - in the mist of US Opens LSD dreams - just 6 left that can be "1 after US Open

The smart money will be on Garbine.

I'm glad Halep took the cheater to three sets. I expected a two set loss. It was surprising the crowd was cheering for Pova. With Konta out, she can get far.

Based on KS' post, I think Garbine would be a semi? Although I don't expect her (Maria) to get that far.

I'm still with Caroline all the way to her first Grand Slam win.

Carolines problem is finals flu... I can see her getting deep but what is she? something like 0-6 or 0-7 in finals this year? I don't know if a grand slam is the best stage to turn that around.

You have a point. That worries me, too. But she has been my favorite player for a long time & will always stick with her. From a tennis point-of-view, I believe the coaching changes made by Sascha will come to fruition this year.

I'm a fan too - I hope she does well and she's had a good season but that finals record is worrying.

Yep. My final super-duper favorite internet response when I don't know what I'm talking about is WSS. Oh, I am trying to figure out when she is playing next.

I have to say, I'm impressed with the level that Maria has brought after basically a huge lay-off. The intensity is surely still there, but the fitness is surprising. She's obviously been working hard.
she was busy practising her ass off and Sven was coaching her from the stand ...pathetic.USTA has no shame they know Simona is pova s pigeon and they want this win for pova..why didnt they make her play Garbage or Wozniacki...especially Woz will have moonballed her to death.
why was she kneeling down in prayer..nobody fault but yours Maria for doping..

You predicted a Halep win... and now it's a fixed stool pigeon encounter... Really?

these commentators are back at it...this lady is saying that pova is the toughest competitor ever on tour ..then she quickly said oh Serena has beaten her many times...if she was so good why do they give her favorable draws or she needed drugs to compete..

well I am a bit frazzled these days because of renovations at my house..I need quiet surroundings to know who wins.

She needed the drugs because being a tough competitor doesn't mean she's a better or more talented athlete. All these girls needs to do is make Sharapova run. Jerk her around the court and tire her out. She's not the fittest or best athlete.

These Addidas color block outfits are hideous.

Meanwhile, under the roof Naomi is taking it to Kerbie.

I like her too. When she learns how to control her aggression and tighten up those errors, she will be a monster to deal with.
