Good remix on this one. Plus 25 seconds longer !

And this is the way it sounded when first released in 1972 on a gospel album.

This new mix tones down the drums and bass guitar.

How it was on the same religious/sacred album in 1972. Written by Jerry Reed.

From "Back in Nashville". Elvis cut his rendition of this well-known standard in 1971.

On this new release the producers have removed the back up vocals on many of the original tracks , which i do not agree. But many fans have argued that, as he aged, Elvis relied on back up vocals too often, so i see their point.

Now the original:

I agree the original with the background vocals sounds richer. they don't really "enhance" his strength but rather provide an "echo" (2 beats behind) of his lyrics, which is not the same.
In general though, Elvis relied on backups (and real vocal enhancements) in later years because as we know his voice wasn't as strong anymore. But in this recording he stands out well so they could have played with it (silenced the backups) with no serious detrimental effect.
Above all, I'm impressed how much they have enhanced the technical quality or the recording itself: today technology is amazing. Listening on headphones you hear all effects and no noise at all: as if it was recorded just recently. 50y on it it feels like Elsis is back with this recording...

Very good . Thanx for posting. If you happen to find any other foreign version of either a Beatles or Elvis song , in particular of these twenty-somethings please add them here.
Here you go Vince: Beatles (or just 1 of em) this time.
John Lennon bites the dust. One of John's flagship songs now belongs to Chris Klafford.
Chris shares my name and even my initials but I'm not biased by this coincidence. What a voice! He's like a male version of Diana Ankudinova whose voice "grabs your heart and squeezes". Yes, Chris' voice does the same. Does start very ordinarily, but at 1:43 a beautiful, clean falsetto is the first surprise. And then it goes only better with each note. My favourite moment is how he embellishes "I'm not the only one" at 3:32 and how he finishes with his powerful falsetto and a little crying "uhm" as the last sound.
Very nice "imagination", perfect rendition, both technically & emotionally, I cannot "imagine" anyone bettering it...

I'm very sorry to interrupt your conversation but I felt the need to say I think he does a brilliant job here. He's got a beautiful, flexible voice & is a brilliant singer. I like it.

Die Krupps foresaw all the current bs before it happened. RESPECT to the visionaries. This came out on 15th November 2019. Nostradamus would be proud...

Very apt. Signs of the times. For people who can't hold attention beyond a couple of minutes, it kicks off around the 2 minute mark.

I vividly remember when this album came out. I listened to it countless times. The movie was a disappointment, but I never thought it should have been filmed.

Happy Birthday David Bowie, he would have been 75 today. This unrehearsed version on "I Feel so Bad" and "One Night" was as close as it gets to him recording Elvis songs.

Happy Birthday Elvis. He would have turned 87.

Many Elvis must be wondering why can't a Beatles / Disney style 8 hour production be made for the 1972 concert documentary "Elvis on Tour". Hours of material still remains in the vaults. Example there's this clip on "Johnny B. Goode". Only a part of the audio was used that opens the film.

Good editing work here. A shorter alternate take on "Promised Land". Last few years 8mm / amateur fan film footage has been surfacing on youtube. In retrospect it would have been just awesome had Elvis waxed more Chuck Berry songs like this, but back then he loved the big ballads of "The impossible dream" "You Gave me a Mountain" and of course, "An American Trilogy".
