and i never quite understood (or get) what ever was the big deal is about Pink Floyd, especially in the sixties Syd Barrett member. Excepting the track "Money" I have no time for Floyd's quirky songs titles and lengthy tracks. Their music Bores me to tears. Led Zeppelin certainly had their moments.

No love for Astronomy Domine?

But I understand that Syd Barrett's Floyd isn't for everyone.

But after Gilmour came their music became more accessible so it's strange you don't like the Waters-Gilmour era.

@britbox has called this one of the greatest concerts in the history of rock, and I agree.

I would have wet my pants if I had taken even one step onto that stage, while being broadcast live around the world. But Freddie Mercury? It’s as if he was performing in his living room.

It was for me, an incredible performance. The thing with Live Aid back in the day, was that it was not only a performance, but a competition. There were so many other "elite" bands and performers competing.. and Queen won. They just nailed it.

I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but I’ve heard other performers were hesitant even to go onstage after Queen, because they had so thoroughly overwhelmed the crowd.

In our corrupt political time - here is a song about that by The MonaLisa Twins and after that a Steelers Wheel and a Beatles cover from The Cavern

as one writes in the commentary box below the Beatles song
"You know what's impressive here is that these aren't Beatles' imitators or a tribute band, but genuine covers, capturing the excitement of the originals and adding something different, notably the female vocals, offering a new dimension to songs you've probably heard hundreds of times. It's a difficult thing to pull off, but they do it with class."

Something contemporary most of you enjoy I think.
I love it. Everything in those lyrics is so good: hard to pick up words that standup from others. This lyrics are by Hozier but the music and the expression belongs to Morgan. The way she sings the chorus and "Amen". Oh, my eyes welled up...
She tells me, "Worship in the bedroom"
The only Heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it

"There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then am I human Only then am I clean"
Brilliant.

ABBA - The Sweden BEATLES - have just released their third newie. Sounds very 1960's in lyrics and arrangement. But the song was actually waxed in 1978 but never saw the light of day - Till Now !

HORSA will enjoy this i reckon.

It's great that ABBA have made a bit of a come-back but sad that song wasn't released earlier.

I did enjoy that song. Thank you very much for sharing.

I'm very sorry for the long delay before I responded to you but I've been very busy. I've just had to stop & relax now though because I've completely burnt myself out so now I've just got to relax & give myself a break.

The haunting classic from the Stone Roses.

This a live rendition from Manchester, UK. I live in Oz now - and one of the trade-offs is the abysmal live music experience. "Elf and Safety" guidelines and coffin dodgers telling you to sit down all the time.

Thanx and nice to see you back posting. Don't Work too Hard.
You're welcome. It's nice to be back. Thank you very much.

I don't know how long I'll be back for. The chat room section of the forums wasn't very successful as people prefer the structure of threads or talking to others in P.M.'s so it was done away with. However, the owner wanted to find me another job. He's been thinking about it & I think the role I'm going to be offered is a "Forum editor" role which will obviously be more time-consuming. More details when I get them.

Not working too hard is hard for a person like me who gets bored really easily but I'll try my best. Thank you very much for thinking about me.

Any Elvis fans out there? Your idol bites the dust. You can pretty much forget about the original version of his "Falling in Love" now.
This version, performed in different than the original (minor) key. is not only beautiful but intriguing: the start was so shockingly unexpected, the middle added so powerful aria-like high singing, and the powerful ending with that very unique contralto voice. That contralto creates this unexpected new feeling to the song. Will be her signature voice for the years to come. As one of the pro singers said about emotional quality of her voice: "it gets hold of your heart and squeezes...". I can only concur because I'm speechless. I keep thinking about this amazing girl so much that I cannot sleep. What a God Given Talent!

Another song of her that I found not only good emotionally but also showing technical tricks she can do with her voice: probably her best I found so far.

EDIT: (sorry about the disabled playback here, watch on YT)

An appropriate song for this weekend starting today (Armistice Day) & ending on Sunday (Remembrance Day). If you don't know how it's appropriate, please listen carefully to the words. I know it was written & originally sung by Eric Bogle but I'm sharing my favourite version of the song (because my favourite instrument is played on this 1).

Please take a few minutes to think about people who sacrificed themselves to try to get peace for everyone in the future.

50 years ago Elvis cut a SPLENDID rendition of Early Morning Rain. The problem is so did six or seven other singers before him. Elvis did not promote the song in any of his concerts , usually sang a couple verses and the performance would be all over in 1 minute. From the soon to be release called "Back in Nashville" 4 cd set.

Very good . Thanx for posting. If you happen to find any other foreign version of either a Beatles or Elvis song , in particular of these twenty-somethings please add them here.

From "Back in Nashville". Elvis cut his rendition of this well-known standard in 1971.

On this new release the producers have removed the back up vocals on many of the original tracks , which i do not agree. But many fans have argued that, as he aged, Elvis relied on back up vocals too often, so i see their point.

Now the original:
