You think he will learn? He was going to play in Los Cabos in yet another 250 event, during the Olympic Games. Davydenko pales in comparison to Thiem, who will play in all the 250 events if time allows it. Luckily some are played at the same time....

You've got to hope so. I guess they both planned their schedule based on last year... both have exceeded expectations and played a lot of tennis. Maybe they'll continue rolling with it for the remainder of the year but you'd expect a re-appraisal for next year.

Nole's arm seemed to be fine yesterday, but he wasn't serving hard at all. Perhaps it is still a bit sore. I watched the second set of Nishikori match, he looks as if walking gives him problems in between points, and then he is all business when the play start.

F3 cut his hair so short, never seen him like that before. Too bad he lost that serve to go down a break in the 3rd set for the 2nd time. But he played on clay on Sunday in Europe so everything was catching up with him.

Isner and Zverev played the doubles as well, one of those tall players pairings. Too bad about Thiem, didn't see any of that. Gael is entertaining.:D

That's all good but should we hope for another No1e's title?

Well it's not up to me, if it were I would give him every title that he contests.

Muller was a tricky opponent, playing well, lefty, serving well, on a fast court in the middle of a hot day. If he can navigate through a couple more matches, his form will improve. But he really targets Rio and then the tournaments after that. We'll see.

So far 5 matches were completed:

Round of 16
(2) Stan Wawrinka Defeats (16) Jack Sock 76 62
(3) Kei Nishikori Defeats Rajeev Ram 63 64
(10) Gael Monfils Defeats (7) David Goffin 76 26 64
Kevin Anderson Defeats (12) Bernard Tomic 46 63 64
Grigor Dimitrov Defeats Ivo Karlovic 63 75

I was impressed by Monfils and Dimitrov today. It's never easy to face Ivo's bombs, but Grigor played very well. The same with Gael, Goffin was tough. Gael visited Canadian Sportsnet studio after his victory today. He credits his resurgence in form his new team, which includes new physio and watching what he eats more carefully. He is excited playing the Olympics, he will also team up with his "older brother" Tsonga. He also claims that he matured and selects his shots with head more, instead of all instinct.

Young Jared Donaldson seems to be nervous, still has to hit a first serve, got broken in the 1st service game and he is at deuce in his 2nd service game.

And just when I typed it all, he hits 3 first serves in a row. LOL

Ivo is on a roll... not particularly a fan but nice to see an old vet having a nice summer in the twilight of his career.

I like Ivo. I don't enjoy his game that much but like you said it's good to see him having a nice summer.

I'm mostly watching the convention, but the Djoker/Stepanek match has been great entertainment in the last few minutes. Now that Nole is back on serve, I think he'll get it done in straights.

They had the violin joke going on. Entertaining stuff. Some magic from Novak, though.

Strange match in which No1e played rusty, Stepanek played out of his skin in some moments, but No1e won easily in the end.

Make sure that you watch highlights because they played some special points and one that was supposed to be won by Nole but was won by Stepanek unfortunately, will be the point of the year for sure.

Crowd in Toronto finally seems like loving the GOAT. smile_006

What was that with a violin, I didn't understand? Does that have something to do with No1e's Peugeot ad?

When Stepanek did one of those good points he started to "play" the violin, later Novak after to do another point he did the same

I saw them doing violin several times, also some people in the crowd, but why? What was that supposed to mean?

No idea, I've just seen them a couple of times doing that but probably it's for a reason
