Man, I hope that's jet lag I'm seeing in that Novak interview.

It's tough to serve out the match, even for more experienced players. But Shapovalov takes out Kyrgios. Nick helped a lot.

It was disturbing for me to watch how Nick tanked this one, and he even made it clear and out loud.
Why did he bother taking the trip in the first place? He showed up last night and said to the on court commentator "I don't want to be here".
If he does not have his heart in it anymore, he should rethink his goals.

I think that Nick is in the category of players that has to participate in all M1000 events, except MC. He probably used an injury card too many times before. At least a home town youngster took advantage of it.

Nick's just embarrassing himself and the sport. Can't say I'd be too disappointed if he hung up his racquet.

Agreed. Nick threw this match away before he walked on court, I expect fines? I don't know the ins and outs of that but clearly he was not invested in the match.

This does not detract from Dennis' performance. He's 17. Hard to hold your emotions and nerve in front of a huge home town crowd against a player who could turn it on at any moment.

Well done Dennis.

What made it close was only his serve, Nick was basically serving two first serves, thus he made 18 DF. It looked suspicious to me from to getgo because he had no zip on his shots and was not moving his feet.
But, after he threw away the first set TB and said to his box after sitting down: "I am going home tonight", it became clear what was on his mind.
Who knows now what he will do next?
That all being said, I am happy for Denis Shapovalov, of course, he has a bright future ahead. Lots of things to improve on, but he is 17, plemty of time for those to materialize.

It is just soooo disrespectful to the fans, the tournament, the game itself.

I'm not a fan, but a guy like Kyrgios could be amazing for the sport. Hoping he finds a way to screw his head on straight.

Too bad for Dancevic, a tough first set tiebreak, had his chances in the set and couldn't convert.

Yeah, I am definitely going on Wednesday, I'll probably make it a whole day regardless of when Nole will be scheduled. Sure thing, you can text or call me when you decide.:D
