If Murray's 4th all-time, where's everyone else? So past eras and their champions like Sampras, Laver, Borg, Lendl, Connors, McEnroe, Agassi, and all the rest should be dismissed in lieu of "greatest Big 4" of this era? This is FOR REAL? So you have Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, then Murray and all others be damned? :nono  :dodgy:

I have no doubt Murray's a real talent, but he vapor locks at times, being the "supreme counter-puncher!" It's ok if he want to do that with the 2nd tier, but he thinks he can outlast Nadal and Nole on any surface, hoping to wait them out or have a heart attack to allow him the title! This is why he has only 2 majors; esp. since his best bet was against Nole in all those AO finals! Getting into repetitive 30 stroke rallies with anyone isn't going to help his body at all, which we all know will break down prematurely; just like Rafa! I think if he had stuck to what got him those 2 titles he would have so many more! Nole didn't give him either of majors; Andy earned them with a lot of pressure and cutting off points! On TCC they talked about the fastest FH clocked and it was Murray's; around 123 MPH! Why is he looping shots with Rafa; learned his lesson and took it to him at Madrid anyway, but will he fall back into his counter-punching ways at the wrong time? :s :puzzled :nono

Hard to argue with you on a lot of those points. He has the talent, but several things have held him back. Personally, keeping in mind that he has to face one or more of the best players ever to play the game, I think he has done pretty darn good. You always want more from your favorite player and I think/believe Murray has a surprise or two left in him before he gets passed by the younger guys.

Andy has flirted with getting back to his top level since the start of the year. He hasn't lost a match in Masters or Grand Slam against anyone (EDIT: apart from Djokovic, this detail changes the meaning of the sentence somewhat :snicker ) this year and the marriage does seem to have him in a good place mentally. I think we're finally seeing him hit his very best form and if he can stay at this level for 2-3 years in what should be the prime of his career, he will surely win at least a couple more majors.

Whether he truly is in his best shape since surgery (maybe ever?), well we'll get our best evidence on Friday against Nole, who is the one obstacle Andy needs to overcome again to winning more slams.

I don't understand. Are you saying that this is the 4th longest streak of QF or better in grandslams consecutively, excluding absences? Just asking. Or is it 4th among active player's similar streaks.

I definitely think he took a long time to get over the surgery. He's only this year looking like he's back to his best, but he took some heavy maulings from Rafa, Roger, Novak, matches he wasn't getting so badly beaten in before the op.

It's good to see, and as I said elsewhere, he's smiling and looks relaxed...

Murray beats Ferrer in four sets and advances to the semifinals of the French Open for the second consecutive year. What a clay season he has had. A first clay final and title at Munich, then wins the Madrid Masters by beating Nadal in the final for his 10th Masters title. He has a 15 match winning streak on clay going as he goes into the semis against Djokovic. While I would like nothing better to see him win the tournament, Djokovic looks awfully good and is roaring to take his first French Open title as well. Anything after this is icing on the cake. Murray should have no pressure in the match so it will be interesting to see how well he can stay with Djokovic. I do think he'll give Djokovic a harder time than Nadal did. Should be a good one.

Murray had a very successful clay season with two titles and a 5-set loss to Djokovic in the French Open semifinals. Gotta be happy with that. Still waiting for him to figure out Djokovic somehow and maybe Wimbledon will be the place he does that. Hopefully they won't meet until the final.

But first things first! Murray is the top seed at Queen's this week, going for his 4th title there. Had a fair start against No. 52 Lu Yen-hsun in the first round and faces Can you hear the drums Fernando Verdasco. Would love to see a Murray-Wawrinka final! Go Murray!

Well it's nice to have dreams, but I wouldn't hold out hope for Stan! He's notorious for dropping out of a subsequent tourney after a big win! I'm shocked he played as well as he did today to win so comfortably! I didn't see it, but I'd guess Kyrgios helped a lot with that easy result! :popcorn :eyepop
