So Murray is going for his first ever clay title this week. If the seeds go as planned, he'll have to go through:

2nd round: Jan-Lennard Struff (No. 72)
Quarters: Lukas Rosol (No. 41)
Semis: Roberto Bautista Agut (No. 16) or Bernard Tomic (No. 27)
Final: Gael Monfils (No. 15) or Fickle Fabio Fognini (No. 29)

A great chance for Murray to finally get a clay title, his 32nd tour title and first title since Valencia in October! :clap

^ He would have to play Goffin in the final, if the seeds go through as planned.

Murray is into the Madrid Masters semifinals with a win over Raonic. according to the Live ATP Rankings, Murray is about 1900 points behind No. 2 Federer but he's got a firm lock on the No. 3 slot with a 1300~ point lead over the jumble of players ranked 4~8. Looks like Federer could be dropping way down after Wimbledon so Murray has a great chance to finish with his highest year-end ranking of No. 2 this year.

Wouldn't go banking on that, but certainly agree that Murray should end the year #2 given the inconsistencies of Rafa and Roger.

Haha, I sure won't be betting any dollars on it! But Federer is sleep walking through the clay season so maybe he'll wake up for the grass.

What a great two weeks for Murray. His first ever clay court title after enduring numerous rain delays and a huge challenege from Kohlschreiber in Germany and now winning his first ever clay Masters by beating the King of Clay Nadal in the Madrid final. Marriage seems to agree with him and while I don't think the Bjorkman effect has been that big technically, Murray has to be feeling good about the results since Bjorkman came on board. And with Murray, a lot of it is mental so Bjorkman may have come on at the perfect time. Murray is definitely one of the contenders for the French Open now. Sure hope he ends up in the opposite side of the draw from Djokovic.

Congrats to Muzza on his 33rd tour title, 10th Masters title, and 2nd clay court title!

Congrats! "Bout time mate!" The only time I really look forward to him winning is to take out Rafa!! He should have been doing this long before today; taking it to his opponent! That defensive counter-punching just won't get it done against the elite players! He was lucky to get past Milos (injury) and Kei (vapor locked) as far as I was concerned!

So this puts you in the category of "New Murray Fan," right? Not exactly the undercards stepping up, but you'll take it, because Rafa lost? His game won't get it done against the elite players, such as Milos and Kei, but then he beat Nadal on clay? Yes, he has been much more aggressive, which was how he beat Kei, too. Your prejudice is so myopic, it's impossible to take you seriously.

Love the lack of a Ferrer-style celebration. Looks very happy though. :clap

I didn't even know there was such a thing as "Ferrer-style celebration."

I guess I'm from the old school; no expression of exaltation while in the presence of my opponent! You can count on 1 hand the times I've really celebrated about a win; even if winning the tournament! I see it as sticking it in their face; a big smile was even missing off my face! As a top player, Lendl (Martina for the ladies) started a real movement with "fist clinching" and giving us primal screams to go along with the applause! Connors and McEnroe did the "arm pump," but it's passe now! For the times, I guess it's expected of today's pros! :cover :nono

I'm not sure if Ferrer is getting a slagging here he doesn't deserve, but Murray is the King of the understated celebration.
