DYJR continues to win..but as always no love from this board..

What sort of love are you hoping to see? He's playing well, but is hardly a threat for the title. This is a guy who has never ranked higher than #38, and that was five years ago.

That said, this is his second Masters in a row that he's reached the fourth round (at least). He's never reached the fourth round of a Masters before. Who knows, maybe he's having a late peak.

Seems like everyone else victories gets mentions but his..that's all I am saying..but Isner doesn't get too much love either

There was quite a bit of hype about Dyjr when he transitioned to the tour from juniors. Got lots of wildcards into tournaments, but never really did anything. I think people are not that excited anymore because it's been a long time without any real breakthrough.

I sometimes think Roger likes to go at a guy's strength in the belief (usually proven correct) that he can overcome his opponent's best even, with time. I think Delpo is one guy he has to be careful with in this respect. The forehand is a monster and can, when on, annihilate even the best in the business. I doubt anyone can hit that flat and hard at Fed's backhand and he needs to keep his confidence up on that wing as long as possible. So, hopefully the bald task master in the box will convince Federer to "Nadalize" the Delpo backhand and hit occasionally to the forehand and usually when he has set it up properly so Juan Martin does not get into that backhand and try to undercut Fed's belief in its stability. All that being said, if there is one guy I don't mind Roger losing to, it is the good man from Argentina.

I am never a fan of talking down players, using terms mediocre, limited talent and etc which show a lack of respect for those who are actually one in a million level of talent.....a top 30 player is more than that, as there are definitely more than 30 million people who play the sport. Instead of talking low of Kohli, one should praise Nadal for how amazing he is always there fighting until the last point, even though he's been through so much and isn't in great form.

Admit it, @Moxie. You wanted to give a like to this post.

About Kohlschreiber... yes, in ATP terms he is an upper average player (I would even use "elite", in the sense that if you´re top 30, you play all the top tournaments). But I get what Twisted is saying. I only remember that margins are small, Kohlscreiber got close to beating Murray a while ago, and he needed maybe two more hot games in a row yesterday to have a look at the Nadal match. If he keeps knocking on the door, he might get some big (or at least better) results one day. Not a whole lot of guys doing that right now...

The bald task master!! That one could stick.

It will be interesting to see how DP's backhand holds up since he is slicing it the vast majority of the time. Against Federer and Nadal it's tough to get away with too many slices, whereas Djokovic and Murray can't punish it as mercilessly. I like DP too but hoping Fed puts the hammer down here, it shouldn't be a difficult path to the semis if he wins today.

Lol! I had to give a like to it. I was going to post exactly the same thing. I'm mandingo enough to ignore who posted it :lol6:

Yes I agree. It's a real shame that the wrist injury has curtailed what Delpo can do from the backhand side. I remember the 5 setter at RG they played in 2009. Delpo's backhand then was almost as powerful as his forehand. I just can't see how the current limitations will allow him to fully compete against this Federer

Yes I think we're getting awfully snobby if we downgrade Kohlschreiber to a mediocre player. The guy has got major talent, but he's inconsistent and flaky. I'm not so sure about his mentality to be honest, because when he goes off, he never seems able to switch it back on again. That said, he's a bit more than a journeyman unless our definition of that has changed

Yep, DP was hitting rockets off both wings before the wrist injury. It's sad how much injuries have derailed him, I know it's all conjecture but I feel like he'd have won at least another couple slams throughout the years if he had stayed healthy and possibly a lot more than just a couple. His serve back then was good but I remember thinking it could be a LOT bigger and if he had been able to develop a huge serve he'd have been downright scary.

I completely agree. I actually saw him as much the natural opposition to Novak in slams to Murray in that generation. And the matches would have been so much more entertaining that the drone-fest we see whenever we see Djoko-Murray matches (which I confess I find extremely difficult to sit through)

I'm hearing that Federer is now ranked no. 4? When did Nishikori lose? I thought he was still in the tournament?

Or is it because Kei's points from last year have already been taken off?

It's because Kei's points for making the final last year have come off. He's a huge favorite to make the semis though so he shouldn't lose too many points.

Fck, my favorite player playing my second favorite player. It is easier when you have two guys you hate, because you can always root for an earthquake (IW), or a hurricane (M).
