Poor Delpo, I don't see too much improvement on him, he had to call the trainer and you can see he can't do too much more

DP's level dropped a lot this set so far, Fed has been all over his serve all match and that will take its toll.

Bad loss for Coric today, figured he'd at least be able to set up a 4th round duel with Big Berd.

Delpo isn't playing like he did in IW or previous matches ..those Fed fans used voodoo dolls to affect Juan s bh

That's a potentially tricky match out of the way. Shame that Delpo might be struggling with his wrists again though. :(

Next match against Batista Agut - Fed has never lost a set to him, even last year at MC. So hopefully that trend will continue unless all the matches catch up with him. :)

Berdych will be much more difficult. But hopefully he can handle him as in Australia.

Then whoever comes through from the top quarter will surely be battle hardened and a difficult opponent in the semis - unless it's Kyrgios and he gets food poisoning again ...

I guess Nick isn't worried about experiencing food poisoning today, he is playing against the Doctor

At the present Batista is more dangerous player than Berdych who is going down more and more

I was super zoned in during the Fed vs Delpo clash, to the point where I was keeping track of the winners and unforced errors.
Federer is untouchable. Only the occasional error from either wing, unseen serving with crazy variety and fantastic pace. Beautiful, fluid movement, both at the net and from the baseline, coupled with the ability to hit winners from anywhere on court to anywhere on court. Well, almost. His defensive/running fh has been crap for about 5 years now and no one can even exploit it lol.
Just as I was thinking that he is struggling with generating pace off the forehand wing, he hits a winner that made Del Potro himself laugh. So I take that back. I thought this could be a problem on clay, but now I am not worried at all, nor should he be.
The day conditions made both commit a few additional errors, but it was an unbelievable display really.
Juan also needs to play less. He called the physio for both wrists, which was so sad to watch. He just can't get a break with those damn glass wrists of his...

Carol is absolutely right, Berdych is a joke as Far as Roger is concerned. Bring on Kyrgios/Wawrinka!

I didn't get to see the match as I was working, but was not expected any other result.

Right now it looks like both Roger and Rafa have a clear path to SF.

This means if they both can win a difficult SF, we will have a Fedal final. So, the prospects of a Fedal final have considerably increased now.

Rog will play SF against Stan/Nick/Sasha and Rafa will play SF against Kei/Nobody.

More importantly he badmouthed USTA after all the help they provided to him.

I think if I had to deal with Pat McEnroe I would've bad mouthed the USTA too

DYJr is a spoilt kid and thinks he is automatically entitled to wild cards given by USTA all the time.
He did get more than his fare share of wild cards and then when they stopped asked him to perform, he acted like a cry baby instead of manning up to his shabby performance.

When a player has physical issues is easier for his opponent to display all his strokes in the best way because the other one can't to do too much. What it's not so good to see and I get mad is when two good players are healthy but one of them is playing like crap allowing to his opponent to do what ever he wants, someone has to lose but at least playing competitively

Very entertaining match. Laser like forehands (from both, even if mostly from del Potro), great net skills (again from both), and apart from one or another point here and there, super high quality from both.

Probably one of the very few times where Federer sees a crowd that cheers more for the other guy (factoring in the fact that 1 Argentinian makes the noise of 10 people from another countries).

I don't know what to say but if Zverev continues breaking the rackets he will have to play with a paddle and maybe he could play even better :snicker

Sounded like a fairly routine outing? Fed improves to 16-5 vs Delpo.

Yeah the scoreline was pretty kind for DP too, it could've been quite a bit worse as Fed was in practically every one of his service games. The only time DP got looks on Fed's serve were games where he was missing nearly every 1st serve. And aside from the serve Fed was relentless like he's been all year. Very good 1st set from both but DP's game dipped a bit in the 2nd set, though he still made it interesting as he had chances to get back on serve when Roger was serving at 4-3.
