Lord Wedgie, Hammer of the House of Nadal, at your service, General CD! The Knuckle Duster of the Left Hand has laid waste the small towns of Montreal and Cincinnati, and my troops are hosed down and watered and ready for the march on Flushing Meadows!

Princess Moxie stands first-guard for the Meadows, and we are flushing out all pretenders. I got my swanks, broadway hoofers and hipsters all at the ready. We have all flanks covered with Attitude, at the very least.

On a funny sidenote, Miloslav Mečíř Junior, the son of the famous "cat" and former US Open finalist and Olympic Champion Miloslav Mečíř, entered the US Open qualifying tournament as #238 in the world.

As for the qualifiers, Hamburg finalist Delbonis is the top seed. When the cut was made somewhere in June-July he was outside of the top 100, that's why he isn't automatically qualified despite currently ranked world #57. Ivo Karlovic returns from death to grand slam action as the 2nd seed and will start his bid for a spot in the main draw against Mackenzie McDonald. Watch out for this kid! By the way Steve Darcis did not enter and is playing some futures and challengers instead. Someone out there must feel relieved. :D

The swanks are really very important when you go to battle in New York!

Mecir was the ultimate swede-slayer... all the swedes struggled with him - Wilander, Edberg, Nystrom, Jarryd, Carlsson... Edberg eventually turned it round - the 88 semi when he came back from two sets down was his "welcome to the nfl" moment.

That's right. Mecir was certainly the cat in that match, toying with Edberg to an extent, but when the match was to be won, it was Edberg who displayed the virtue of great champions: he never gave up and dared Mecir to win the match. He couldn't. Edberg grew as the match progressed and we missed the opportunity to see MM in a slam final, which is a pity in a way, but then again, if he dropped a calf so obligingly in the semi, how would he fare in the full blare of the final?

On the other hand, he'd have faced Becker in the final, so he may have even won...

Still remember that match and was a big fan of both guys but felt gutted for Mecir for losing it more than applauding Edberg for winning it.

I think the thing I am most excited to see is if the Bryan Brothers can complete the Calendar Year Grand Slam! It will be great to have that type of energy surrounding doubles. All they need is this title and they will do it :D!

Andy is sure to have a major let down in USO. However, I can
visualize Djoker getting his act together in time.

Nole's acts are together. He's just getting beaten by the better players on those days.

It's Andy who's going to clean up his acts come USO.

go andy. show the world what you can do.

Did he just fart and cause a tornado in the background? His facial expression looks like he's trying to relieve some tension down under :D

tough draw for Andy and nole.

It all balances out eventually! Someone always gets hosed in the majors since everyone should be there; the only miss that mattered was Andy being out at FO this season! That caused Nole to get Rafa in the semi when all the seeds had to move up! "Thanx Ang!" Time is running out on Nole to complete his career slam and circle of Masters wins! All he needs is a FO and Cinn. victory in the next couple years! Anything's possible after poor Roger was helped out so much by Soderling in '09 at the French!
