Obviously without seeing the draw it's very difficult to make a call but I'm very confident Federer will do better at RG than Tsitsipas based on what I saw from Federer against Thiem.
That is your opinion. I personally think Stefanos has a lot of momentum and he will do at least as well as Roger, but most likely better.

Not necessarily. I'd say draws have plenty to say how things will play out. I think Fed matches up better against Tsitsipas than Nadal as does Djokovic. Thiem worries me more.

Isner withdraws from RG due to foot injury suffered at Miami finals. Apparently it has not healed yet.

Like Isner was really going to do something in Paris; PLEASE! I long for the days when American men didn't bother unless they had a real expectation of doing well; Chang, Courier, Agassi! McEnroe had a couple chances and blew it with his temper in '84! Sampras had one or 2 real chances to do something at the height of his powers in the mid 90's, but eventually lost to the inevitable champions like Courier or Kafelnikov! The other trips were a waste of time like Lindsey Davenporte really trying hard over the years to get her footwork together to compete! Some players just need those fast courts and free points on serve you didn't get back then on the slow Terre Battue of RG! They'd have a better chance in Madrid when they had that blue mess (Har-Tru) that the clay specialist like Rafa & Nole hated! Roger ate it up & won his last clay event w/ little trouble since he loved the slippery aspect which gave him an advantage over others at the time!

Isner took two sets off Rafa. Can you give me a list of players who have done the same?

That's not impressive! Nadal has allowed absolute nobodies to take him to the limit in Paris! Some German kid called Brand took the 1st set and was close to taking the 2nd before choking away the possibility of eliminating Rafa early! I'd of enjoyed seeing someone else win during his legendary run at the event! Now I couldn't care less; just boring if all know he's going to take the title! :nono:  :banghead:

Come on, you are talking non-sense. Can you tell me how many times, he was taken to five sets in RG?

I remember the other match you are talking about. I think his name was Daniel Brands (or something close to that). He did not take two sets. He came close to it only. Isner actually took two sets.

I don't know whatever happened to Daniels after that? Have not heard about him at all since then.

Rafa went to 5 v. Isner in 2011, and v. Novak in SF in '13. That's it. He is talking nonsense. BTW, Isner has a stress fracture. They're slow to heal.

Zverev is playing Geneva. Wawrinka, too, but it's his home tourney. Dimitrov has taken a WC into qualies there, and Lindsay Davenport says Agassi is there with Grigor.

I remember watching this match. The german guy was playing lights out tennis for the first 2 sets. There was not much Rafa could do, but to hang in there and wait for the german to start missing some shots. I just recall it was unebelievable how this guy was playing for the first 2 sets, his ground strokes were so powerful.

I agree with @Fiero425 that it can be boring when Rafa destroys everyone in RG or when Novak is too dominant, or Fed was in his prime. When I watch tennis in general I mostly root for the close match where only a few points decide the winner. Those are the matches that stick to the mind and I gladly play it again sometimes when I'm in a tennis blues.

Also Shapovalov and Agut are in Lyon. All of these players have one thing in common: poor clay season.

Wawrinka had QF in Madrid which was a good run. Zverev also had QF in Madrid, but I don't think he is too happy with that (l. to Tsitsipas).

Here is my tentative list of dangerous floaters for RG (recall that DF are unseeded players who might cause an upset or two).

1. Christian Garin (won Houston and Munich)
2. Dusan Lajovic (MC finalist) Got into MD due to exit of Anderson
3. Laslo Djere (won Rio 500) Got into MD due to exit of Isner

4. Nick Kyrgios (threw chairs and bottles)
5. Benoit Paire (won Morocco)
6. Fucs (No particular reason)

If Isner pulled out from RG that would make Lajovic a 32nd seed assuming that all others ranked higher will play?

Some guys are still playing this week ranked between 30-40, but I guess those points won't ve counted for the draw?

Agree about the rest and on Kyrgios even if he only threw bottles and chairs. He doesn't like the clay, but he can still make an upset being so upredictable.

Maybe Hurkacz can be added, Tiafoe as well and maybe there is some small chance for Dimitrov. I know he is completely lost, but with favourable draw he coud make a few rounds (need to see how he does this week).

I miss the days when Gulbis was a beast on clay before his shoulder injury. Never been the same since unfortunately.

I do not remember this period in time. A SF in RG I remember. That seemed like a short freakish period when he held his head together for 5 matches.

He had more than just those 5 matches.
He got into the top 10 as well, a SF in a slam alone is not enough to get there.

Djoker breaks himself. Has to be said these points are more on his terms but Rafa can play defense all day on this stuff if you're not able to put the points away.
