Petra is making quick Spanish dinner out of Carla!

I think they call that Paella

Petra had her dinner but then she is having another Petra lapse!
Lost the second set 4-6

CSN can be a tough nut to crack. You don't want to let her hang around, she could find her form and actually win.

The Williams are down 6-1 in the tie break. This looks over.

They need to play more dubs together, they are not just going to walk in here and blow the field away!

But this may be good for both the OLD ladies playing singles! Nice warm-up!

Believe me those days of walking into a tourney and winning are over in singles and doubs.

Well, I guess u missed the China Open late last year, or Brisbane this year, and this tourney has yet to be decided.

Calvy. She didn't walk into those tournaments. Serena had been playing throughout the year. But they haven't played doubs since USO. And before that it was the spring.

Well, truth be told, she's never walked into a tourney in singles and won, so, it truly never applied to her that regards then.

That's not true. When they were younger, they both could be off the tour for months, show up and win a title (sometimes w/o dropping a set).

And just like that, Petra goes from having the advantage in the breaker 4-2, to losing the match 7-4 in the final set TB. Great job CSN for hanging around.

Oh Yes ! :D :D I have my reasons to be happy :)

Btw, I guessed only one match out of the seven :wow: :laydownlaughing

Some people here (who will remain nameless) go 0-x, so 1 win is putting you a mile ahead already. :lolz:

OK Si,
here are my picks, I'll make mine before I am influenced by u!

Venus will even her record against Flavia.
Caro will beat her buddy.
JJ over Serena
Alize over Carla.

Lets see how I fare?

How about you Si, don't let no one stop you, gimme them picks!

My picks:
Venus will have a bad match soon because of her health and Flavia can be tough on her day, so I pick Flavia even if I want Venus to win. Just instinct. Of course that Venus is a much bigger player than Flavia but not when she is ill.

Sorry Sori! I just cant trust you yet, Caro on a roll and won 2 already, she will win this but who knows? :D

Serena of course because I want her to (Simona will be ranked 7th), and she is the best of all times.

Carla to win because she has a better tennis head on her shoulders and because Alize disrespected Simona with her after match interview and I want her to lose now.

We have only one pick the same. Did you picked JJ over Serena?! :puzzled its on your head :D

Key words "when they were younger." We are looking at two 30+ year old females and one has a medical condition. The days of walking into a tournament after months off the tour and winning are probably over. That said, they can still be dangerous if everything clicks at the right time.

Colleen, I agree completely, but Calvy said she's never walked into a singles tourney and won and we know that's just not the case.

Just 3 years ago Serena got into Stanford after two-years-off from injury, over-weight and out-of-shape, she blew everyone out of the place.

There's other examples too Kiu. Two memorable ones for me are 2004 Miami and 07 AO.

Three years ago Serena played Eastbourne and Wimbledon prior to Stanford. Stanford was a month later. So, she didn't walk in and win it, that's if we go by Kskate's criteria.

So, no it was not "another example."

Even when she was younger, only once has she walked into a tourney after a long layoff and won it.

Just for the record, , Kskate, she played a tournament prior. For example, Aussie Open 2007, she lost in quarters of Aussie warmup to Sybille Bammer.

Miami is the only tourney where "walked in" after a layoff and won a toutney.

OK Calvy, you win!
But they do need to play more dubs, it's not just the Russians, there's the Italians, The Czechs, The New #1 team ...

It's even harder to come in and blow the field in Doubles than Singles. Just ask Martina and Daniela!

Her draw is not so bad ! Lisicki and Sam and the Italians are fragile and can be beaten. She can make it to the semi final if she is tough mentally. Its up to her, but she needs to wake up and fight :)

I told you.. Caroline is in the semis
