Venus won in straights, first into the semis.

Caro was solid, Sori erratic, Caro won with an ace!
Caro will get Venus next.

Her draw is not so bad ! Lisicki and Sam and the Italians are fragile and can be beaten. She can make it to the semi final if she is tough mentally. Its up to her, but she needs to wake up and fight :)

I told you.. Caroline is in the semis

Yeah it's great to watch - first time for long Caroline played with a great selfconfidence. She's still not there but closing in. Time for a Carlsberg.:clap

That's the beauty of having many favorites compared to just one.

I can change band-wagons quickly. I still have 3 favs left in here.

Caro-Wagon, here I come, I know Hoergren is always there.
Hey Buddy

Good win for Venus. Saw the last few games of the match. She got tight and lost serve, but was able to pull it together at 6-5 in the 2nd. Didn't see Caro's match, but will catch the replay tonight on TTC. Serena looks sharper early. This match w/ JJ will be interesting, but I suspect Serena will pull through, probably in 2 sets.

Well, I think Serena knows that she can't afford slow starts against Jelena Jankovic as Jelena is one of the few players that can capitalize on a slow start.

I will say the one thing I have noticed about Serena's game so far this year is her serve is definitely off a bit from where it was last year. Thank goodness her return game and her ground game are far more consistent these days.

I think it more important for Jelena to raise her game than Serena to raise her game.

Their is a reason one is the top ranked player with 17 slams and the other is a slamless number.

The burden is on Jankovic.

Nice of Serena for trying to fetch things up after the match :)
I always liked the Williams sisters and always will.
Richard, you have done a great job on your girls to raise them the way they are. :)

P.S. - All players take their time now and then when they receive the ball. JJ was just trying to take out her frustration.

Well, JJ got nowhere fast. Out she goes.
It seems Dubai has turned into a tourny from early last decade.
Whoever who wants to win has to get past the Williams Sisters.

I am only picking one semi, Serena in straights.

Here is the complete match Caroline vs Cirstea - good quality - have a beer when you watch it ;)

Interesting to see Venus against her former doubles partner - they actually played doubles in 2008 in Doha and came to 2nd round  since then Venus has been partner with Serena.

I am guessing Woz's performance here will make her and her dad question whether she should have another coach.

How is that? My logic tells me that her new coach may be the reason for her success here.
Her dad tried all he could until the new coach came and she went backwards. If I had to find a reason for her semi final in coaching, then I would have gave credit to the new coach, not to her dad.
Technically and mentally it was a good move to have another coach with new ideas.
