^ Well Genie hasnt been the same player since the final at Wimbledon.Interested to see her performance at the USO.
Genie did not look right tonight, big thigh wrap seemed to slow her down, not aggressive and I have to give Sam kudos for playing a fine match, hit the lines solidly with her forehand.
Again, Genie just 20 and this year has had some incredible highs and now so lows, for her, I think the mental aspect of her game is the key here. The weight of pressure has to be dispelled. She needs to have fun out on the court again. She looked totally stressed out.:puzzled

I also noticed that thigh wrap and I agree with you it did tend to slow her down

I also thought she looked uptight on court as well.

I agree she needs to have fun out on the court again.

Genie has had a great year thus far, especially at GS level,I hope she can find her playing level at the USO.

It's difficult when you're in a slump to just turn it around at a slam. Especially a newbie. I don't think Genie will make it out of the first week. Expectation is only going to get larger. This will be her first slam ranked and seeded inside the top 10.

fun fun fun... who are we kidding? ourselves and Simona included. Its just an escape and a retreat from the harsh competitive life of a pro. In reality they seek self belief, confidence, form.
Genie and Simona lack it at present but it can change real fast. Just one good run its all it takes.
I believe that both Genie and Simona will turn around their results soon.
They are mentally tough strong girls in depression after their last humiliations. They will bounce back soon.

^ Well you have to enjoy what you are doing in any profession. At the moment there is no joy in Gennie, she looked up tight on the court.Usually she is very composed.
Anyway lets just see how she fares at the USO.

It hurts when you are beaten and losing your self belief. It affects your form. Any player including Serena went through this process. Its just normal.
Ana and Caro were like that for years until 2014, but now they are alive again.
It takes time to heal mentally. The player in crises just have to carry on and go through the bad times.

Picks:

Petra in straight.
Maggie will end the lone American's run here today.
I am not picking Camila versus Mugu
Slamin' Samy in straights.

Alison just sent Maggie a bagel to munch on in the 2nd set

Keep this play up Alison for the deciding set.

Camila and Garbine?
Why is life so mean?
There can't be 2 winners.
Do you know what I mean?

Garbine wins the 2nd set 76 (4)

I hope the deciding set is a much cleaner match all round...too many breaks of serve so far in this match

Finally Stosur breaks,I thought the previous service game where she had 2BPs and failed to convert might come back to haunt her in this set.

Come on Stosur consolidate.
