Petko was brave to get it to the tie-break, and save MPs, but Flipkens was the more aggressive in the end.

Yep. Flip S/V on her 4th MP takes the match. Petko was clearly disappointed in the loss.

Exactly. Petko was brave with her back against it, but she didn't come in behind the ball when she should have, after. She'll be disappointed, but she should think about why.

Great win by Stosur. I'm glad to see her so solid going into the USO, though I'm disappointed to see Bouchard so uninspired.

A comprehensive beatdown. I thought Sam would win, but this should have been closer than 6-2 6-2

Good solid win Samantha 62 62

Eugenie looked tired to me on court, also her first serve let her down.

Genie does not need any rest!
She is in a slump!
But she has been good at the majors, like a 2012 Sloane, or was it 2013?

We will see....

Flipkens has a break advantage on Petkovic in the 3rd…5-3. The winner will be in the QFs. The other QF waiting to be set tonight: Stosur v. Bouchard. The rest are set:

Rybarikova
Riske
Giorgi
Muguruza
Strycova
Kvitova

Petra is defending finalist points here, she should be the favorite right about now.

Too much pressure it seems.
No second week for Genie in the big apple!
She will get a tough draw, me thinks.

I agree with Kiu, though. This isn't tired, it's a slump. Weight of expectation? She needs to clear her mind and play her tennis.

Well with Petra it all depends on which Petra shows up on court.Though I was impressed with her match yesterday against Makarova

In Connecticut, all the top girls realize that it is foolish to play in the week before slam
in retrospect and so they are tanking their matches one by one. Don't read too mush into
it. Of course, Genie cannot be accused of this as she is there to get some match practice
after early exits in big places.
I would put it in a more elegant term.
It's who wants it more that counts, if one is thinking of next week, they don't want it bad enough, Mugu wants it bad, she prolly doesn't think she has a good shot at the open, this would be a better shot!

Or Stosur...
