There is always some type of drama with Djokovic isnt there? lol!
I am not sticking up for Jones and his comments, his so called humor has backfired on him 100%
It was a pathetic attempt at humour.

But what i don't understand why Djokovic has made his protest some six days later following Jones on-air mocking of his fans? And why do it on court with Courier involved, putting Jim in an embarrassing spot ? Surely Djokovic could have issued a statement earlier that he would boycott on-court interviews until he recieves an appology.

This is the bit I don't understand. I'm with Margaret. He's a drama queen.

Novak has come into the AO also stating he got food poisoning when he was here in detention, before he was deported, back to Serbia, during when COVID was around? why bring that up now? AO officials have dismissed that claim btw ?

I know. I'm far from being a ND fan, but maybe he's been made aware of the Tony Jones ridicule in the last day or two, by his fan-base. It's just a guess however.

Novak has come into the AO also stating he got food poisoning when he was here 3 years ago, before he was deported, back to Serbia, during when COVID was around? why bring that up now? AO officials have dismissed that claim btw ?

Yes that's right, real bizzare to say the least.. But didn't he give the interview 5-6 months earlier and it was only on the eve of the tournament that it was published. Why wasn't it published earlier?

Apart from Novak's interview refusal, it was pretty much a forgettable day at the AO. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I thought that Humbert might give Zverev trouble being a lefty, oh well wishful thinking on my part, we needed Fritz to be around to knock him out
First set Alcaraz v Drapper was competitive, then Draper and his hip came into play in the 2nd set, he called it a day and retired, also playing those 2 5 sets matches took its toll
Thats the thing playing majors, you need to win in straight sets, and conserve your energy at the business end of a major when it matters

And again I don't get the scheduling. Rune finished his match after midnight and is now scheduled at the day section..Why?
Because there is a Aussie playing , Alex de Minaur, and he gets the preference for playing at night.

BTW Novak gets his apology from Tony Jones, quite frankly Novak should have done the 'on court' interview after the match with Jim Courier, we all know Novak can be 'thin skinned" and Courier had no part in what Tony Jones said.

" Unfortunately, my 'humor" the other night was misinterpreted as an attack on Novak. That certainly was not the case.I've been joking with Serbian fans throughout the tournament and this is - at least I thought so - a continuation of that" he said.
"At no point did I mean to show any disrespect to Novak - and I apologise - there was no intention to offend him".
This apology was conveyed a couple of days ago to a Serbian journalist.

People say Novak's just thin-skinned when he's been catching #ell from all sides since very early on in his career as a kid! At first his impressions of other players were entertaining & people laughed w/ him! Later he's villainized as being disrespectful and hurtful! He had legit health issues that were dealt w/, but Fedal led the charge to undermine his character & competitiveness! I keep saying Djokovic is not my favorite player to no avail, but it goes back to my childhood where I oppose bullying! Being the #1 tennis player already had Novak under enough pressure w/o his contemporaries adding to the stress! He still out-performed all others taking over the recordbooks & adding to his accomplishments at 37+ every time he steps onto the court! Fedal & their fans can't stand it! :fearful-face::yawningface::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face:

LOL! Cry Me A River, Novak needs to 'grow a pair' not making everything about ME, he started this crap when he arrived at the AO, carrying on about food poisoning he had when he was in Melbourne before he was deported back to Serbia, also how he feels nervous when he comes into customs in Australia? I mean he cannot let that go?
Novak brought that all on himself BTW, stop the whinging and get back to playing tennis! He has to be the Centre of Attention, it is child like! a 37 yo man carrying on like a 3rd yo
Refusing to do an interview with Jim Courier after his match, was just Unprofessional, Jim had nothing to do with Tony Jones or his comments
Tony Jones has issued an apology to Novak.
End of Story
Lets get back to tennis please and no more from the Drama King!

Just listened to Gill Gross regarding Fritz lost to Monfils
One of the most outstanding things, Gil said, that Monfils was just as good offensively and his defense game, also his serve was great, finishing the match with 24 aces.

Interestingly, Jones says he already sent a private apology to Novak along with an offer to say in person, 48 hours before. It's a wonder why Djokovic and his camp, not only denied Jones that opportunity but then chose to turn it into an on-court public debacle including involving Courier. I still reckon Jones should be replaced by Todd Woodbridge.

Wow, I guess it's my duty to be the @-#ole here! Here's this "double standard" that all concern acknowledge, but have expectations regardless! The "INSULT" was public, so the "Outrage" & "Apology" need to be just as transparent w/ the public! Why should this obnoxious jerk get to quietly say "my bad" after he dogged The GOAT gratuitously along w/ his fans? TCC desk comm. were behind Novak in feeling slighted & had no problem w/ the Courier interview snub! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::angry-face::anxious-face-with-sweat::astonished-face:
