I just have to be careful, because my sort gets accused of being elitist over on the US Politics thread. :lulz1:
Well, at least you're not Hillary Clinton calling half the country "deplorables."

The Shelton and Rune comps to Shapovalov are worrisome. I think they're both young enough them to break that association, but they both have the same quality of "maybe I can just rely on my natural talent." We're in the post-Big Three era, and it is no longer enough just to be really talented and athletic. Sinner, in particular, is taking up the Big Three mantle of pinpoint perfection and discipline.

In truth, I wonder if this is what is keeping Alcaraz to being a clear second best...I do think his absolute best level is better than Jannik's, but Jannik standard level is higher - he's more consistent, and overall just a better player than Alcaraz is. Right now, at least.
I feel at times Carlos is a instinctive player, without a game plan, or has a game plan, and dosent keep to it, which is not a bad thing, I feel at times he needs to play percentage tennis, he has soo much upside in his all around game, and I agree with you at his best level is higher than Janniks, Jannik dosent have the dips in his game and is streadier at times,

Well, what do you want to call them? We have tons of idiots out there; many regretting their choice in leadership as Trump WDs every promise! :angry-face:
Let's not overcome this thread with politics, but I'm not sure there's a big politician that doesn't do the same, whether Republican or Democrat.

You're the one who went one too far, so now quit.

Getting back on topic: side bets on whether or not Murray and Novak keep the band together for a bit longer? I kind of think they might give a bit more time, once Novak is fit again.

Speaking of fit: Will Sinner's leg be a factor in the final on Sunday?

Yes I think so. Sinner, he has day to recover
Regarding Murray and Novak staying together, apparently they will have further conversations,he said down the track, probably when he is gets over his injury
Seeing Goran is not coaching Rybakina, he could be another option:)

I’d like to see the odds of the French Open not serving wine, nor Wimbledon PIMMS or a NY crowd any liquor, let alone OZ banning beer. ; )
Yeah, come on! The tennis crowd is too unruly to serve alcohol to? That would surely mean banning alcohol from all sporting events, then.

I think Goran burnt that bridge, no? He didn't sound like he'd want to do that again.

It was just an option like I said, I feel Novak is a player that needs someone in his box to yell at, at times let off hot air, quite frankly he dosent need a coach, both Novak and Andy said it was for the AO and will discuss further if their arrangement will go further
I was quite surprised Andy said yes seeing he had just retired, he talked it over with Kim who apparently said yes :)

well even at those other GS we're seeing rowdiness, a sure sign of a decline on morals and society standards.
Meanwhile at the Aust open it's been getting out of hand for a number of years. Tennis AU needs to sort the crowds, including ban on alcohol, more crowd-security detecting inebriated people wanting to be part of the spectacle instead of just spectators, otherwise players will stop going to melbourne.

Haha, no doubt - and I know it wasn't really the right word. I just like the word "bogan" -- it is so...Australian. Sort of like how "wanker" is so British.
Nothing beats the Cockney accents. If you haven't seen it, check out Rise of the footsoldier (2007). Preferably the extended version. I've no idea how many times they use the C word but it's a lot except it sounds much better Cockney gangster style. 'ave it, you khan! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

if Novak chose to default his AO sf match outright without taking to the court, would the crowds received or be entitled to, a refund? Same question applies with RG, US Opens and Wimbedon?

The AO,
If you have purchased your ticket you will be entitled to a full refund, credit or replacement ticket where on court play does not commence at all

in that case, Novak should have given Zverev the walkover and not played at all, including enabling the crowds the chance to be refunded (ie AU $299 each).
The groin was a preexisting injury and he should have been experienced enough to know his own body.

Of course Novak knows his body which is why he skipped practice since he defeated Alcaraz! I think he waited until an hour or so before his Semi w/ Sascha! It's happened in the past where he's overcome an injury to win, but at 37+, it was a tall ask! I just don't understand the crowd "booing" like that! Plenty of players WD or Retire in every tournament! Why disrespect the most prolific player of the Open Era at their own event? I see his name finally taking over the Arena a few years down the line! The Laver Cup can only save Rod's legacy for so long! His accomplishments were great "at the time," but are dwarfed by the efforts of the Big 3 to overtake him, Borg, & Sampras! Their #'s have been obliterated by 20+ yrs. of excellence by Fedalovic!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::sneezing-face:

You bring out some valid points.

Well, i will give the crowd the benefit of the doubt that within 24 hours of that walkover, upon reflection, they realize the player(Novak) was genuinely injured.

Having said that, im a Bit frugal with my money, if I paid 299 just to see 1 set of tennis with no refund, sue me I’m human! At that emotional moment I would Probably boo too ! LOL

Novak has had groin, tears before and worked through them, and played, maybe he thought he could do a similar thing, test it out, you dont know until you are playing, if you can go on with the match, in saying that it was obvious before he retired in the 1st set, to me, and others, anyway a retirement was looming., just not after the 1st set.
Vince I preferred when channel 7 had the tennis full stop, and channel 9 had the cricket, than it is now quite frankly
