Based on scores, it looks like he's handling Shapo now.

Shapovalov just lost all concentration because of the crowd. He was dominating Djokovic before this. If he can regroup mentally for the third set he will win because Tennis wise he’s been better. Anyways from what I’m seeing from this match Djokovic is done in terms of being a slam champion or no.1. The Australian open is going to be amazing.

Novak 61 2nd set with ease, just stepped up a gear or two,Serbian fans always came out in Sydney when Novak plays.I have witnessed that first hand.

You obviously are not watching the match it’s Shapovalov who collapse mentally because of the rude crowd, it has nothing to do with Djokovic’s level of play.

I am watching 2 matches at the moment,as a tennis player you have to block out the crowd for starters,Shapo did not and paid the consequences,Novak did up his game,he may of taken the match lightly to begin with,he knows what is at stake, this is like a Davis Cup atmosphere ,which I have attended many times.,crowd is not like a normal tournament.

BTW as a women I am multi skilled :)

Blaming the crowd is lame, and don't forget that Novak has done it, too.

Look, win or lose today, the quality of Djokovic’s play is horrible. The match was completely in Shapovalov hands. I’d be surprised if Nole makes it past the quarterfinal at the Australian open. We will see.

The only “lame” thing right now is Djokovic level’s of play. :bye: He’s not even playing like a Top 10. I really hope Shapovalov will pull off the win. But one thing is for sure it won’t be Djokovic who will threaten Nadal’s no.1 spot. Maybe it will be Medvedev or Thiem, we shall see.

Going to a t/break for this match.....Shapo to serve first

Shapo with 3 UFE already cant afford to do that against Novak.....Novak 3-0
Shapo has to Shut the Crowd Out....UFE rolling off his racket
Novak 5-1.....Novak DF
Novak 6-1 5 MPs
Novak 6-3 and 3 MPS on his serve for the match
Novak 6-4 2 MPs 1 serve left

Serbia win the the match Novak d Shapo 46 61 76(4)

You know what, I’m actually happy that Djokovic won because I’d love for GOATdal to meet him. So it’s all good! :good:

That being said I am pretty confident that Shapovalov will beat Djokovic the next time they meet, hopefully it will be in Melbourne. :good: The nextGEN are causing him tons of problems.

I did notice they said 8 DFs from Djokovic. That's a surprise. Looks like Denis the Menace put up a good fight, anyway.

He did it was a bit late in the t/break.Shapo had too many UFE to begin with, thats where he lost the t/breaker.

Did I hear right? Bernardes telling the crowd if they aren't there to watch tennis they should just go home. :lulz1:

I complain endlessly about how sloppy he is. He's loads of fun, but wildly undisciplined.

Shapo ain't beating no top player until he learns not be a headcase.
I don't think he's a headcase. He just has no discipline. Have been saying for years that if he could rein in the power on those shots he might have something, but I keep waiting.
