Fed holds twice in a row in 3rd set.

Backhand UFE: Fed 29, Novak 0.

What happened to all those whopping 100 UFE?

I've been saying for a while, Nole goes out of his way to punish Roger and Rafa; really putting the screws to them since this is the world of Fedal! :nono  :dodgy:

Finally, Fed saves a BP and holds. Fed has already won 3 games in 3rd set (which is how much he won in the first two sets put together). :clap

What a game? 10 minute long. After wasting 2 or 3 BPs, Fed finally breaks. :clap

A dropshot winner, A backhand DTL winner, An incredible get off a drop shot winner (this will
make highlight reels) A chip and charge winner, all for Fed in that game.

Fed even consolidates his break. Fed up 5-2. If Fed can get this set, that could plant some doubts, perhaps and bring out some UFE from Novak.

Come on, you know and I know that any match where a player went a set and a break down is OVER! :snicker

But good for Federer to pull off the break. Have to hand it to him for persevering, and when players do that, who knows what could happen?

Well, that's an irritating set for Djoker to lose...

It turns out that I woke up at the right time. I missed all the ugly parts of the match.

Fed wins the third set. It was a very difficult hold while serving for the set though. But, he got it done. :clap

Now, just two more to go. :snicker

Well the beauty for Federer is that it hasn't been a long, draining match so far. First two sets vanished in under an hour. So fatigue shouldn't be an issue if he gets it to five...

Looks like they are closing the roof now.

Whom does it favor?

Both are good indoor players. So, I would presume that it does not change anything.

Kind of steals momentum from Roger doesn't it?

Novak is 153-1 when winning the first two sets of a five set match.

His only loss came at the hands of Melzer in RG QF.

You wouldn't be surprised with Novak. If Federer wins a tight fourth, he might just go away. But I agree with Nehmeth, the roof-delay probably favours Novak marginally, in settling him down again...

And so there you have it. A routine finish to a mismatch that temporarily found a pulse...

I picked 3-1, and it turned out right on.
You can almost surely bet successfully on such a score in Nole's favor in the Fedovici encounters.
That is the logical outcome. Nole is the better player, but Roger is a proud man who clips a set away with an effort to make the score look more respectful and is usually able to win a set.

Congratulations to Novak on another masterclass performance. :clap

As usual, it was too little and too late by Federer.

Actually, it was later than usual as Fed could not win either of the first two sets; in fact, the score did not even get to 15-30 on Nole's serve in the first two sets.

The scoreline could have been embarrassing like that of 2008 RG final against Rafa, but the old man saved it with an incredible get of a drop shot in the 3rd set which helped him break Nole once.
