Vika down a double break. She looks terrible. I don't know why she's out there when she's clearly not 100%

I don't usually like to get into this, but she also looks about 10 lbs. heavier. Why is she even playing?

Oh I like that first match in Stadium 1
Jie and Na are old competitors and friends, the Chinese match-up is most interesting to me.
The H2H goes in favor of Jie, she is ahead 5-2 although the last two were straight set one sided wins by Na.
but one other thing, Jie comes into this match winning her last but Ni lost her last match.
another interesting note, Li is 13-1 for the year, Jie is 3-3

I wonder who feels the most pressure...

Then there's Slammin' Sammy vs. Slammin' Franny!
Oh my!

Agreed that the first up between the Chinese women is intriguing. And I love the battle of the veterans between Schiavone and Stosur. Schiavone looks pumped, I must say.

Sharapova v. Goerges, anyone?
Interesting matchup with Li against Jie, no pressure here Li should be comfortable against her fellow countrywoman. No one has mentioned the Dellacqua comeback against Flipkens, routed 1-6 in the first set then stormed back to win 6-3,6-1. Some good matches tomorrow, Maria against Julia, that could be one to watch, Julia has looked fairly impressive so far, and with that all around power game, she may just give Maria a stern test. Call me Ruby Tuesday on this but I am going with Julia in an upset.

Her foot injury hasnt healed and to me she was foolish to attempt to play at IW.

Thanks for letting me know about her injury. And an injured foot would cut down on training etc. which would leave her open for weight gain. And I agree if not 100% or at least close to it she should not have played at IW. But she is still a fighter and is up in the 2nd Set!

Lauren won the 1st Set 6-0! What is the problem with Vika?

She has a foot injury. She was wearing a walking boot just 2 weeks ago.

Injured or not, what I like about Vika is that she plays big and bossy. But if she's playing hurt, she may win the day and lose the larger battle.

I'll take Vika against Lauren with a bad foot and 10 Pounds.

As for all who ask "How could she be here?". I ask, ^How could she miss this?^

Normally I agree, but there is nothing big or bossy about her game today.

Well how about that point? She's mostly off, but she's still got some bossy pants on.

Nice win for Davis! Azarenka was compromised, but Davis stayed poised.

Watched the last bit of that match, and Lauren really returned superbly well in the tiebreak. sweet win for sure.

Will be interesting to hear what Vika has to say about her foot in the presser. She's got to give it a proper rest.

Whats wrong with you? :D (joking) So you arent interested to know if Sugarova is in shape, OR if Sloane decided to focus on tennis, OR Petra chocking v another young American, OR Ana battling a tough fighter like Svitolina, OR Taylor, OR Sorana bombing Camila, OR the slicer cutting through Makarova, or the two Russians pavly and Kley...
So many other good matches. Your two matches are not my favored ones but each has its own taste and there is nothing wrong with that

My break down for today so far is happy: Lucie, Genie, Simona, and Caro. Happy for Varvara sad for Daniela. And happy for Agnieszka and sad for Heather. I'm also sad for Madison.

Short and to the point :)
Just think of the winners and you will always be happy ;)

Vika shouldnt have played here and embarrass herself. She cant move :(

Saturday matches will have some real action at last
Thank god that Nara has not created "some action" on Friday

Vika where is your mind? Not only were you playing hurt, but you were racket throwing at your own poor play! Of course, you are going to play poorly injured. And no offense to Davis nor her fans, but it was disgusting how the commentators went on and on about her "big win". And the crowd is so hungry for any American win they were even delighted with the out come! Davis won nothing at all actually. Vika gift wrapped that Match, put a great big bow on it, and gave it to her.

And I remember elsewhere reading where someone had posted that it drove them crazy how Davis did that ball bounce between her legs before she served. At the time I hadn't seen Davis play and I thought what a silly thing to let drive you crazy. But I now agree with them. Maybe Davis doesn't mean it that way, but it looks like a show off move. Add me to the list of people that doesn't like it at all!

She doesnt mean it as a show off for sure. Just a mechanical move like bouncing the ball to the ground with your palm, etc. Let her off the hook :)
