Alisa does deserve HOORAY! Too bad it was at Vicky's expense but that's the way it is.

Meanwhile, Franny and Camila evened out against their respective opponents and are playing deciding sets. Camila ia ahead of Petko by a break, Franny and Mona are dead even.

The #2 seeded doubles team was in trouble but they pulled through in the super tie breaker, I would love to see the Russians play the new #1s... may be not here but soon.

Talking doubles, where is that OTHER match I've been waiting for?

Serving for the set leading 5-2, Camilla scores a few errors and gets broken, Petko is now bouncing around with energy, getting new life...But then things turn quickly again, Camila breaks at love and wins the match.
All hail the qualifier!

At least I think they were all honest about it! But I couldn't live a tennis player's life even if I could play tennis so I've done 9-5 :)

Barty & Dellacqua Beat Hingis & Lisicki

Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua withstood a major challenge from Martina Hingis and Sabine Lisicki in Indian Wells first round doubles play.

INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - A dramatic day of first round doubles at the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday saw Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua survive Martina Hingis and Sabine Lisicki's upset bid, but Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci weren't so fortunate.

Though Barty and Dellacqua are three-time Grand Slam runners-up, Hingis is a nine-time doubles Grand Slam winner. Therefore, it wouldn't have been a huge surprise to see she and Lisicki win in their debut as a duo and in Hingis' first match since playing five events in her return to the doubles circuit last summer. And they were quite close to doing so.

After surviving four match points on Lisicki's serve in the second set, Hingis and Lisicki eventually rolled through the second set tie-break to force a match tie-break. But the seventh-seeded Australians never trailed in the decider and eventually secured a 64 67(0) 106 triumph.

Zheng Sets Up All-Chinese Blockbuster

Zheng Jie won a marathon against Paula Ormaechea to set up a second round clash with Li Na. Who's got the upper hand in the head-to-head? You may be surprised...

After letting 3-1 and 5-3 leads go in that third set Zheng had to close it out in a tie-break, 36 63 76(5). What she showed at the very end was more than impressive though - having hit no aces until that point, she hit her first of the match to get to match point, then a few points later her second to clinch it.

Her reward? A second round clash with Li Na, the No.1 seed this fortnight. But their head-to-head isn't what it might seem - Li has won their last two, but Zheng leads Li in the overall head-to-head, 4-2.

Thanks for putting that up pavlik.
Taylor will be up against a much tougher opponent next round, she has to get past Flavia Penneta, an old Veteran.

Daniela got beat by Varvara in straights today, the first seed to lose, Daniela was seeded 29
as for the rest, all the qualifiers and wildcards have lost today.

Where Simona plays
All the drama will be on "fringe" court 4 of course where drama queen JJ will do her gig, preceded by epic 3 hours match between pocket rockets from Japan and Romania, preceded by a very annoying 3 tight men's sets..
Those two chaps are there just to annoy me. Just finish your thing and let me see Simona already.. :D

Si Si, have patience, let them boys play.

Vesnina lost the first set to Beck, Annika seems to be the new German on the block this year.
