Si Si, have patience, let them boys play.

Vesnina lost the first set to Beck, Annika seems to be the new German on the block this year.

Those two drive me mad. 5-5 3rd set..
Beck was my fav for this match. She is tougher. Annika doesnt do anything special but she is very solid and reliable.

Vinci looking to turn her 0-6 losing streak in singles matches this year around at Maddie's expense.

2-0 Simo in 1st set, two risky hard games won. She over powers Nara with her height and power ;)
Even battle at the baseline. It will be a tough match

I'm not sure whether I've really ever seen Bojana before (playing Woz right now) but I'm appreciating her well-done makeup job...super off-topic...it's Friday y'all ;)

3-0 double break yesss!
Kiu, you know Simona better than me ;)
I am just too subjective, what do I know?..

I know Nara better than you. She wan't even the Top Japanese until a few weeks ago...

Simona to serve for the match, as expected.
Si, you are not the only one who is holding their breath, I know there are others.
Anyway, it's all good.

What others?.. ;) It should always be personal for everyone. You know what I mean..
Every fan should make it personal. There is nothing wrong with that, and others who arent fans of a specific player should understand that.
Even if I am not a Caro or Genie fan, I still understand and respect their fans (hoergren and Rose).
I am a fan, not a journalist :)

Nara is by far the best player in Japan at present. Her ranking is too low for her ability. You will see that in the future.
Simona made the match easy and looked good, but she can be destroyed by Safarova who baggeled her in their last match. A lose is always waiting somewhere around the corner...
My match highlights were the Simona serve which worked well (she wasnt tensed) and her drive voleys.
Good match for Simo. :)

I love this impassioned plea from the POV of the fan. No amount of logic will keep the fan from stressing over a particular match or tournament. Nice post, Si Si.

Exactly so. For fans, every match counts especially when their player is in good form and the wagon is moving well..
I guess I wouldnt be so excited if I was a Roberta Vinci fan at the moment (1-6).
I must be honest, its just human nature imo. Its normal.

Well played Caroline - know you're talking - really impressive gameplay. Better first serve, better forehand and netplay. Yes I really think I deserve a Carlsberg right now:clap

Oh I like that first match in Stadium 1
Jie and Na are old competitors and friends, the Chinese match-up is most interesting to me.
The H2H goes in favor of Jie, she is ahead 5-2 although the last two were straight set one sided wins by Na.
but one other thing, Jie comes into this match winning her last but Ni lost her last match.
another interesting note, Li is 13-1 for the year, Jie is 3-3

I wonder who feels the most pressure...

Then there's Slammin' Sammy vs. Slammin' Franny!
Oh my!

R

Rose

My break down for today so far is happy: Lucie, Genie, Simona, and Caro. Happy for Varvara sad for Daniela. And happy for Agnieszka and sad for Heather. I'm also sad for Madison.

Short and to the point :)

Agreed that the first up between the Chinese women is intriguing. And I love the battle of the veterans between Schiavone and Stosur. Schiavone looks pumped, I must say.

Sharapova v. Goerges, anyone?

Vika down a double break. She looks terrible. I don't know why she's out there when she's clearly not 100%

Lauren won the 1st Set 6-0! What is the problem with Vika?

Her foot injury hasnt healed and to me she was foolish to attempt to play at IW.
