Is it symbolic for Kostyuk to wear that red dress?she has been wearing it since the season started.

Seeing she is from Ukraine you would think if she wanted to be symbolic she would wear yellow one of the colours on her countries flag, maybe she feels red has been a lucky colour for her

Congratulations to Marta Kostyuk winning her Maiden WTA title at the ATX Open, Texas, defeating V. Gracheva 63 75!
( both players did not shake hands at the net btw)
With this win Marta will enter the Top 40, her best career ranking to date. Marta said in her speech she wanted to dedicate the trophy and her win to her homeland Ukraine.

In the final at Monterrey, Mexico,
Garcia v Vekic,

Donna saved 3 BPs to hold and win the 1st set 64
Caroline wins the 2nd set 63, these 2 have always had close matches so I am not surprised this will go to 3 sets
3 games all 3rd set, Garcia has hit 14 aces so far

Jelena Ostapenko will reportedly be cut from funding by the Latvian government due to her 'participating in tournaments with Russian and Belarusian tennis players'. Her colleagues Daniela Vismana and Dari Semonistaya and 2 cyclists are cut from funding as well.

Well one bright spot, Henin actually made good use of the generous wildcard afforded her and took out Stephens. I don't know what is wrong with Sloane, a total look of "non interest" on the tennis court.....
Sloane has a new coach as well this year, Frances Roig, ( who had been with Nadal for many years), I dont know what the problem of this non interest on court, if she keeps going down this path, she might as well hang her racket up, she is just wasting her time

I was watching that match and another, switched back at the end of the match, didnt see the non handshake at the net. From what I am now hearing that Tsurenko retired in their last match injured, though some say she was pretending to be injured

Some people may hold grudges I guess, especially if they think their opponent was faking an injury and retired
Also I would like to give credit to Shelby Rogers yesterday in her match, she picked up a hamstring injury could not move at all in the 3rd set against Sakkari, was given a bagel and did not retire, that is true 'sportsmanship or womanship", giving the win to Sakkari, Shelby was serving for the match in the 2nd set and lost it, Sakkari with 48 UFE better clean up her game ASAP or she wont be defending her finalist points from last year
