Karolina Pliskova who has more coaches than I have had baked dinners, has hired a new coach, Leps Friedl, age 43 and a former #14 doubles player, who was on Karolina's team last year, temporarily replacing Bajin at Wimbledon and the US swing.Friedl will start working with Pliskova from the Cincinnati tournament.

Serena, Rafa, Roger and Novak probably has a grand total of less than 12 coaches between the four of them in the past 20 plus years.. These players needs to learn it's about the inner fortitude inside the player's soul that a coach is able to assist with execution of a tactical strategy. Most of these players need a sports psychologist with a good coaching.

Taylor Townsend, back on US soil and hardcourts wins her first round match at the WTA 500 level event in San Jose. Great effort from TT to come through qualifying and then win her opening round. She has Kasatkina next, won't be easy but hopefully that serve and volley will be working.

I personally think it great she has come back to play "old school" serve and volley tennis. We don't see it that often on the WTA Tour so it is unique and fun to watch.

If Karolina does not do well in a tennis season she usually gets rid of her coach at the end of the season, though this time she got rid of Bajin mid year. A coach can only do so much, they cannot win matches for you or GS titles at the end of the day it is up to you, you cannot blame a coach if you dont succeed.

Taylor has also been a really good tennis commentator before she has not returned to the tennis tour.

In Citi Open Sloane Stephens again goes out in the 1st rd, still in Honeymoon mode:), though Tomljanovic has really improved this year, defeating Sloane 61 64.

I dont understand you ? I have a right to my opinion and I think I know what has gone on with Pliskova and her coaches in the past and present
Pliskova needs more sports shrinks as I mentioned previously than coach plus may a conditioning coach to assist with her movement. Pova had the slowest feet on WTA tour but she got better (well I think we know why, jajaja)

Pliskova in the past has had 2 coaches, fitness coaches etc to no avail, she is a tall player, yes sometimes tall players do not move well, fact, still at the end of the day, it is up to a player to succeed, she changes coaches like the wind, and dosent really give them a chance to develop their plan for her, then if she dosent get the results she wants, gets rid of them..I do not know at this stage of her career, if she would want to hire a sports shrink, she is newly married and probably thinking of starting a family, like her twin sister has recently done.

Younger players like Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka to me need sports shrinks, that is just my opinion.

I don't know if age makes a difference when hiring a sports psychologist especially when the player has consistently lost in the major tournaments with her past few years results.

As I said I cannot see her hiring a sports shrink, regardless of her age, to me she hasnt got the overall game to win a Major full stop., her game is very limited, she has no B plan when her A game is not working, even with a sports shrink
Btw it took Pliskova 3 sets to defeat Katie Boutler ranked 127# yesterday in San Jose.

A think a lot of us had pegged Bianca Andreescu to be a future No 1 player, she has a great game, variety etc, sad to say her body has let her down time and time again, she had to take a MTO in her match against Shelby Rogers, went off court, lower back, she was defeated in straight sets 64 62, in San Jose, hopefully the injury wont be that bad and she can play in Toronto coming up.
Bianca will get a MRI scan tomorrow

She needs to train with the Greek Goddess Maria Sakri

An impressive performance from Coco Gauff, even though she looked like a "Glo Stick',:) great transition from grass to hard court tennis, winning 61 60 over Kalinina in San Jose tournament.

RD 2 Thursday night match in San Jose......Coco Gauff (6) vs Naomi Osaka.

Disappointed with the Giorgi result yesterday. Got to 5-5 in the third, only to lose. So close, but in the end she couldn't pull it out. I was hoping she was gain some valuable ranking points going into the Canadian Open, having Muguruza pull out messed up her draw. I would have thought, despite the difference in rankings, she would have had better luck against the Spaniard. I was happy with the effort, but not the final result.

Well rumor has it that Osaka broke up with her because she is too needy.
