Bianca Andreescu has added well-known high performance fitness coach Abdul Silah to her team.( Silah was formerly with Osaka a year ago,parted ways after the US Open.,Osaka did not play tennis after the USO).
The two are beginning work this week at the Evert Academy in Boca Raton to prepare for next week's Miami Open.

Iga Swiatek won't play this year's Billie Jean King Cup.Poland faces Brazil on 16-17 April.
Iga said " Unfortunately I won't be able to play Billie Jean King Cup in 2021.As this first 'full' year on the WTA Tour is full of challenges and surprises,especially COVID-reality,sometimes I have to adjust and adapt to the circumstances".

Charleston to host WTA 250 tournament (April 10-18) following WTA500 Volvo Car Open.
The tournaments field will be headed by Madison Keys.

Kaja Juvan who withdrew from her match yesterday at the Monterrey,Mexico tournament had a standard check up COVID-19 test which tested positive.Juvan said she has only mild symptons and feels okay at present.Juvan will have to withdraw from Miami and other tournaments that are coming in the next month or so.

Anastasia Pavlyuckenkova withdraws from Miami,will take a little break ,heal my knee and come back stronger.

Daria Kasatkina has withdrawn from Miami tournament,makes sense with her final in St.Peterburg tomorrow she has played a lot of tennis recently.

only had less than 50views, so either its new (i didn't check date lol) or no one knows about it.

some class rallies/angled volleys. the quality isn't the best (ripped off vhs tape??) but i followed the action ok on my laptop, i think it popped up because i was recently watching ao1980 final hana v turnbull.

WTA Announces Ranking System Adjustments

WTA ANNOUNCES RANKING SYSTEM ADJUSTMENTS

The WTA has announced adjustments to the WTA Ranking system to account for the continued schedule modifications affecting the Tour calendar following the 2020 pandemic-shortened season.

WTA clarifying its position and policy on coronavirus vaccine.

The WTA believes in and will encourage everyone to get a vaccine.This will assist in protecting the individual that has received the vaccine,those that who have not been vaccinated,and allow our world to move back to the place of normalcy that is desired by all.The WTA,with the full assistance from our medical advisors from the Mayo Clinic,have been and will continue to educate our players on the various vaccines along with the benefits of getting vaccinated.This being said,the WTA will not be requiring players to get a vaccine as this is a personal decision which we respect.

Serbian press reporting that Ana Ivanovic will "comeback" to tennis after almost five years for the new WTA250 in Belgrade,in five weeks.Pretty sure it will be some exho,but that should be the first time she shows up on a tennis court since 2016.

Bianca Andreescu will not be representing Canada in the upcoming Billie Jean Cup.
Bianca is relieved to say that there is no serious injury and with some rest and preparation will be back soon.
Bianca want's to make sure she is prepared for the clay court swing ahead and for the rest of the season.

Statement from the Championships 2021,

"However,given the considerable challengers ahead of the FFT in staging Roland Garos,and to avoid further impact on the rest of the calendar,the grass court season will be reduced by one week in 2021.
The Championships will begin as planned on June 28 2021,with qualifying taking place from 21 June 2021.The grass court season will return to 3 weeks in 2022".
