I see from Twitter that Naomi Osaka is on a plane and headed to Oz to play the AO!

Naomi is playing a warm up 250 WTA tournament in Melbourne before the AO.Lets hope in 2022 she is mentally prepared to play tennis.

I saw that Twitter posting as well, good for her. She is great on hard courts, if she is in form I suspect a deep run for Naomi.

Hope yon can cope with some interesting graphs about Clara Tauson - they are actually quite intersting about a player flying under the radar. Shown on twitter by my twitter friend Mark Nixon.
Here are 2 graphs that show where active players who have been ranked nr 1 in the WTA (+ Wozniacki and Sharapova) and the present WTA top 10 when they were 16-23. The thick red line is Clara Tauson's ranking. Graph 1 shows that Clara is higher ranked at 19 than Muguruza,, Kerber, Barty, Halep and Plíšková were at the same age. Graph 2 shows that Clara is higher-ranked than all of the currently ranked in the top 10 were at the same age. Actually, Iga Świątek is the only player from the current top 10 who, like Clara, was in the top 100 at 19. Graphs 1 & 2

She has the tools to be a solid player,hopefully she can grow up a bit and not be such a 'brat' on the court.

Aussie player Sam Stosur will play her last singles at the AO in 2022 she was given a wild card to the event,she will continue to play doubles for the rest of the 2022 season.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who started her preparation in Dubai,arrived in Australia and has tested positive for COVID,she is in complete isolation in a special hotel and following all the protocols under the supervision of doctors.
