Quick point about Serena's past few years on the tour. As you recall, Billie Jean( no wasn't Michael Jackson's lover) King made some comments that if Serena wanted to give herself the best opportunity to win more slams , Serena needed to become a full-time tennis player instead of what she is doing now being a part-time tennis player. Serena most likely didn't receive it the right way but Billie was correct. Serena hasn't won a single set in any grand slam finals that she has appeared in. I think her only chance to capture a slam would be RG and truly Wimbledon. She needs to play 7 weeks of tennis but she is lucky if she gets to play 4.

WTA disabled Google Scores in April for ???? reasons, but today it's back. Googling Madrid Open now shows both ATP and WTA scores. :)

About time! I have been wanting French player Caroline Garcia to cut ties with her father and find a proper coach and now she has done that, she will be coached at RG by Gabriel Urpi, now at the Nadal Academy.

Both of these were excellent choices. Well-deserved. Big year for tennis at the Laureus Awards.

I need Madison Keys to get with Sacha. This is getting ridiculous how her career is trending downwards.

With the recent announcements that Caroline Garcia and Sofia Kenin are changing their coaching, ie no longer using their fathers , not gonna lie I think it's high time. I've always been wary of these daughter/father coaching situations for a myriad of reasons. Not making a blanket statement that it's always unhealthy or harmful, but the interpersonal dynamics can get so complicated. The blended control of an authority figure father and coach, how do you separate things? If I had a dime for every time these WTA father coaches have clamed only they knew their daughters games well enough.....

Both Sofia and Caroline mentioned taking control of their careers and lives:

Kenin "and I felt like now was the time for me to do what I wanted to do myself in terms of my tennis, my career. . "
Garcia: "It was my decision," "Today, I am more sure of myself, I have more confidence in myself, it was perhaps the right moment for this evolution."

Wishing them both well.

Sad thing with Garcia I feel she could have let it a bit late, she has the game,I hope with this new coach he can finally gets the results, her potential has been wasted with her father.

Kenin's father at times was 'the tennis father' I am glad she has parted ways with him, still waiting for news on her new team.
