Bianca Andreescu can't catch a break when it comes to her health,

"After testing negative twice before my flight to Madrid,I was sadly informed that I tested positive, upon arrival for COVID-19 and therefore will not be playing at the Madrid Open.I'am feeling good,I'm resting and continuing to follow the health protocols and safety guidelines.I look forward to getting back on court very soon."

Second application by Dayana Yastremska to lift Provisional Suspension denied.
This decision was subject to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) by Ms.Yastremska, which she chose to excercise. The CAS has denied that Ms.Yastremska therefore, remains ineligible to compete, pending the final resolution of her case.

I just tried working my way through the Madrid draw. There is a lot going on in there. Barty could get Swiatek early as Osaka could get Sakkari early. Ostapenko is in there, but hasn't done much since winning the French a few years ago.

Barty will play Shelby Rogers in the 1st rd,this will be their 4th meeting in 2021,Ash has won all matches
Osaka has not played on clay for 2 years,I would fancy Sakkari in that match,Sakkari likes clay.

I did pick Sakkari to win that one, in my draw. It's hard to pick against Ash, and I think the surface should suit her, but I wonder how hard she wants to work, prepping for the French? Another early round possibility that I'm having trouble with is that Mugu could meet Ons Jabeur really early.

i think the surface suits Garbine, also I would not rule out Halep who likes the surface in Madrid.
