I think we have raised this issue just recently.Osaka needs to be reminded ASAP that without her previous standing in tennis, she would not be invited to these parties etc.Osaka may think doing the 'celebrity' rounds may take her mind off what is the underlying problem,depression/mental anxiety.Until Osaka seeks professional help for these issues, her tennis days to me are numbered.
I don't think we have ever seen anything like The Osaka syndrome before.

I don't think we have ever seen anything like The Osaka syndrome before.
There have been players that have battled mental issues/also burnt out, they have taken time off the tour.Ash Barty is an example,.she took time off the tour, actually went and played cricket professionally in Australia. In that time she found her love for tennis again and look what she has achieved, she also sought help for her issues.,she has a 'life coach' who she hooks up with during the year.
Osaka is such a gifted player and it will be sad if she didn't seek the help she needs, though at the end of the day it is up to her.

Kim Clijsters will meet with her team to decide on a course of action for the future.Clijsters appears committed to pushing forward with her comeback, but there will not be a lot of playing opportunities in the US this season.

Not sure if there are any posters who follow Giorgi, I know she is entered (or at least the website indicated) at the event in the Canary Islands. Does anyone know if she is playing at the 250 event the following week in Italy? Both are on hardcourt, I was hoping she could finish the season on a strong point...

Well not that many posters are interested, and that is fine, but Giorgi managed to get thru her first round in the Canary Islands in three sets. Good for Camilla!

Yes I did see that, I guess the point I was making is that since it is a 250 tournament, and there is a 500 event in Moscow, it doesn’t get much print coverage. I was sooo happy to see that the Tennis Channel showed the last part of the first set of the Giorgi match, only to have them leave to cover the Murray-Tiafoe match. I understand ratings are important, but sometimes I feel the women’s 250 events are considered second rate. It could just be me, but I feel there should be more coverage of the women’s events. I am happy to have this forum to post my opinion. Thank you.

Giorgi also received TWO game penalties, the first after throwing her racket near a ballkid. :pile-of-poo:Similar to when Coco Gauff threw her racket near a first row child after MP at USO doubles final and got fined

Disappointed to hear that. I thought Giorgi was above behaving that way. Wow, that is not admirable behavior but I do appreciate you posting that.

Her final match as far as we know has been announced - but she's not saying no to come back when her baby girl has grown a bit older

As expected Ash Barty will not be competing in any further tournaments in 2021.Barty has been away from Queensland,Australia for eight months.

"With the ongoing challenges of traveling back to Queensland and quarantine requirements,I am not willing to compromise my preparation for January 2022" Barty said.
