So Andy and Novak agree to play an exibition with each other.

That's really nice of them, but not really a consolation for the audience I think.

Nothing against Andy but I dunno what the organisers were thinking allowing a guy who won a single match here play an exo. Should've been a semi final runner up or Lopez as the next alternative after Ferrer who already got to play a match.

Mixed feelings about this one. I wish Stan would have won yesterday, so we could have a real final.
At least this gives food for thought for him, to play less going forward. He is not a young man by tennis standards anymore.

I think it's much more simple than you're trying to make it. The organizers would have had very little time to come up with an alternate plan, once Roger made it official he wasn't going to play. Aside from Novak and Roger, I'd bet my house everyone else had already left London by that time, including Stan. As a local of sorts, Andy was probably the only guy they could get in a hurry.

The organizers had an idea for a new reality show for the Londoners... "Boo the Scot"

You couldn't put a semi-final loser back in, because they were out of the tourney. I think alternates are only valid in the groups. An exo is unsatisfying but maybe there only shot at giving the mugs some tennis to watch. Overall, not a very tasty tourney for the fans at all, but this time, there's nobody at fault...

It made sense; Andy lives there and it was more for the local fans to get something out of this dismal WTF! This is probably one of the worst YEC in memory! :dodgy:

There's no probably about it. The final was more competitive than 80% of the matches - and the final wasn't even played...

I missed yesterday's match and only caught the highlights but kinda shows why Roger's shots had no power now in hindsight and why his first serve % sucked pretty much all tournament. He has tons of time to recover for next year but DC could be already won for the French now. Stan's likely in a mad depression for losing yesterday so his performance won't be great going in and Roger's form is obviously not where he needs it to be. Never gone out of my way to watch DC but would've been worth watching this year before this happened. Maybe he'll still be fine by then.

Another class return by Novak.

I grade player's behavior; esp. the top echelon and Nole DOES NOTHING that I would consider offensive! If anything, he's probably too nice! I used to think the same of Federer, but even he's gotten a little surly of late and acting out of character!

Ripping your shirt off like a demented juice head is likely to p1$$ fans of the opposition off but other than that I agree. I like how he applauds his opponent's great shots so often.
