Thanks a lot Roger - three consecutive WTF wins for Novak with a big [*] next to it. :dodgy:

Only trolls will put an asterisk on it. Pure class comment on the court as Novak receives the trophy. If he gets the record for number of WTF trophies I won't begrudge him. What a player..

I listen to the speech Roger did when he came on court and explained why he could not play.It must have been a difficult decision on his part.Roger is a class act.I hope his back improves for the DC finals.Btw it kind of clears up to me the reason why Roger's first serve percentage was so low in his last couple of matches, his back was playing up again.

That's an excellent point. It really was shocking even against Murray

It's going to be a bit of a hollow victory for Novak. Yeah he gets the money and the trophy, but you gotta think the guy was looking forward to proving himself on the court.

So Andy and Novak agree to play an exibition with each other.

That's really nice of them, but not really a consolation for the audience I think.

I agree. These guys don't want to win by walkover; they want to win with their racquets.

It's better than nothing, though, right? Consider the time and money that was spent to attend today.

Yeah, they already got screwed out of an exciting match. Then to be treated to one of the least entertaining match ups ever. They should get a full refund.

makes sense. which makes me question..i think he already knew he was in semis even before he played murray..could have pulled out of that one and saved some energy. not that he spent much anyway lol

That's what's bugging me the most! Roger saw the handwriting on the wall; HE BALKED! I'm very disappointed in him; knowing he could get Stan to choke, but doesn't want to face the music today! Now he's gutless! I'm shocked! :eyepop :puzzled  :dodgy: :eyepop

Gimme a break. We need to get beyond all this tanking nonsense. The man would play if he's able to. They all would. It's obvious he's not able to compete. Wise option taken, to withdraw. Nobody would feel worse about it than federer.

Exactly. As I posted somewhere else recently, tanking is an invention in the minds of certain fans; it's not a commodity champions trade in.

Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, etc. would never tank a match.

I didn't say he should have tanked, but he didn't need to go all out to take that match last night! I found no good would come from his comeback when Stan is so fragile emotionally! He had to know this would affect the final and of course the pending Davis Cup tie! Like John McEnroe detailed, years ago Gorman had match point, but still gave the match to his opponent because he KNEW he wouldn't be able to go the next day! It's just common sense and I thought Federer had more; but his ego wouldn't allow it I guess!  :dodgy:

He did bro, all week. Last man standing, so he deserves everything.

As for Roger...it is so sad the back could not give him one more week. It is like the Formula 1 drivers that put just enough gas in the tank to last them the race with the car as light as possible, but run out on the last lap...

There is NO WAY Roger would not play this match if he could. Doubters have to realise Roger believes everytime he steps on the court, he can win. That is the way he is, right or wrong. So if he is not on the court, that means he cannot play.

I hope this is not the same old back issue. That would temper everything from DC to the prep for the next season.

I wish Roger speedy recovery and big Congrats to Nole for another great season.:clap

Well put, Murat.

Congrats to Djokovic for another excellent week in London, and for winning the WTF! :clap :celeb:

I'm glad he won. Super stoked to see the way he crushed everyone - and the minor hiccup against the little Samurai was understandable after working so hard to secure the year end #1 ranking.

Still, it would have been the cherry on top for him to have won out beating Fed in the final.

Does this count for their h2h though? I guess not?

Here is Roger's statement.

Thanks, yeah I heard him say that. But what does it mean? Too risky? For DC? I assume that is his priority?
