I often wonder why someone follows something when it makes them so miserable.

One can't close his/her eyes against injustice it must be called out.

One must have the wisdom to tell the difference between injustice and perceived/imagined slights.

Acknowledged preference for blondes on center court is not (imagined) a perceived slight. Your comment invites pretense. (unwise)

This is such an old debate. It's really annoying but ultimately its about who the tournament and fans in general deem more marketable. Unfortunately pretty blonds get more marketing. The general trend in marketing in bigger marketing is still towards white blonde women. It permeates everything from sports to fashion to daily life.

Thanks GSM. I wonder who decides who the "hot chicks" are? For the record, I consider Serena way "hotter" than Sharapova. We all have our preferences. So I guess the Wimbledon officials are going for the white male general preference of the skinny white blondes? How diverse and broadminded of them. But I still hold out hope that the Wimbledon officials in all their wisdom will choose tennis over looks.

You can keep hope alive my brother, but know this. They only have one WTA match on Centre Court during the early rounds and you'll see alot of natural and bottle blondes. Mark my words...

I've noticed that in the past and it, excuse my redneck French, sucks donkey balls. I wonder if the other Grand Slams have admitted to doing the same?
Center court is more balanced at the other slams. RG starts at 11am, so that allows them 2 WTA and 2 ATP matches on their main court before it gets dark. Ashe and Laver arenas operate at night as well as the day so you'll see more balanced scheduling there as well. But Wimby doesn't start Centre Court until 1pm. They really only schedule 3 matches a day on Centre and will move a match there if the 3 scheduled ones end early.

Not pretending anything. It was a bit of a blanket statement concerning some repetitive posts. There are problems, but harping on them constantly until you can no longer separate the truth from the imagined never helps anyone. Your perceived comment wasn't too sharp either.

I am pretty excited for this Wimbledon with a potential Serena Slam in the works it really adds to the dynamic this year. I hope the draw is a really balanced one. Good news is Kvitova and Serena can't meet until a final which is what we want. Let us hope!

pova has nowhere to hide at Wimbledon because she will either be on Petra s side of the draw or Serena s...I want Serena to play all the big and small hitters at Wimbledon...starting with Lisicki,Muguruza and Pliskova ...then the small hitters like Cornet,Zenka or tIMEA...
Its going to be popping at Wimbledon.......

Actually your blanket statement is a "yes, ...but" meme popularized generations ago. Who are you helping?

Great news for fellow members of Laura's Legions. Our Darling is scheduled to play at Eastbourne and then at Wimbledon. Apparently, wrist issue is over and she is 100% now. Hope, she can hit the ground running (which is indeed possible in WTA) and reach a QF or better with some luck in the draw.

What a travesty? Wimbledon folks have announced four of the 8 wild cards and did not bother to include Laura Robson .

However, it is widely believed that once she plays decently in Eastbourne as announced she would be given a wild card into Wimby independent of her results there. This means there is some doubt as to whether she will be able to play at a reasonably competitive level and/or play at all.

I think everyone is overestimating Petra's chances at Wimbledon. She hasn't been consistent in the last 12 months and she doesn't exactly play well under pressure.

Has she ever been consistent? Her game is perfectly suited grass, and most importantly, she believes her game is perfectly suited for grass.

I think Petra does best when expectations are at zero. I don't expect her to contend at Wimbledon. Sure her game is suited for it and her greatest triumphs have been there. I just don't see her doing well as a defending champion.

While she may not win it all, Petra will go deep. She is mentally fresh having skipped IW and M. She has proven her form by winning a major clay event before RG. She is an attacking player. Sounds
like a contender for me.

I like Petra. I'll probably always like her. I've just been burned way too many times by her false starts. We all said she was a contender at RG after winning Madrid.

Well she is playing a grass warm-up before Wimbledon apparently, so we can see what Petra does before the big one.

I would have to agree. When she is expected to win and dominate is usually when the forehand collapses and the booming serve come in with a whimper. Like Liscki, she needs to have a solid year on all surfaces not just grass.

I think 2011 has been her best year (QF/SF at RG, won Wimby, FedC and had a spectacular fall indoor season finishing w/ a WTF win).

And then 2012 was the year she broke my heart. Still its hard not to love Petra. 2011 really was a really fun breakout year to watch her. I still think Petra has perhaps one or two more slams in her, but I don't think they'll come during a title defense.
