I'm in agreement with everyone. Kvitova is my favorite WTA player, and when she is on she is fantastic to watch. But she does best when she is under the radar. She caught me completely by surprise last year when she took the title. Now this year, with the title defense and a possible No. 2 seed, all eyes will be on her. It will be interesting to see how she does in her grass warmup. But I'll be totally surprised if she manages to defend her title.

I think 2011 has been her best year (QF/SF at RG, won Wimby, DC and had a spectacular fall indoor season finishing w/ a WTF win).

And then 2012 was the year she broke my heart. Still its hard not to love Petra. 2011 really was a really fun breakout year to watch her. I still think Petra has perhaps one or two more slams in her, but I don't think they'll come during a title defense.

Yes, she has best chances on Wimbledon. Me too love her from her 2011 breakthrough..she is a nice player on and off-court.

She may not do very well on Eastbourne but on Wimbledon Grass, she is a completely different and dynamic player..

I think everyone is overestimating Petra's chances at Wimbledon. She hasn't been consistent in the last 12 months and she doesn't exactly play well under pressure.
She was in facr less consistent in 2014 than now..still won Wimbledon...
So it basically depends upon good draw and good opening of draw

Has she ever been consistent? Her game is perfectly suited grass, and most importantly, she believes her game is perfectly suited for grass.

She mostly has been consistent on grass apart from few sudden downfalls....

I think Petra does best when expectations are at zero. I don't expect her to contend at Wimbledon. Sure her game is suited for it and her greatest triumphs have been there. I just don't see her doing well as a defending champion.

I think it completely depends upon the draw and some upsets in early rounds..provided she keeps on winning...

While she may not win it all, Petra will go deep. She is mentally fresh having skipped IW and M. She has proven her form by winning a major clay event before RG. She is an attacking player. Sounds
like a contender for me.

Yes, she has great chances to go deep and who knows can win it too...Anything and Everything is possible in WTA now-a-days.
Did any1 expect she would win in 2014?
Just like ur tagline says - 'Others must lose'...if she gets good opening in draw, she has chances...

Even I am a Petra fan but I know never to expect anything from her. She lost to some unknown Belgium girl in 2013 when the draw had opened up beautifully for her. She is just too inconsistant to ever be a contender for a slam

Exactly. It takes a full moon and 0 expectations for Petra to win. When she puts it all together its really beautiful. That match with Venus last year was something to behold.

She had just broken up with Stepanek in 2013. The media was distracting her about that. The draw does not have to open up. She is the best grass player, and I expect her to win another three Wimbys before retiring.

Yes, Petra's problem is not so much about draw opening up. Her problem is she hitting the "self destruct" button too often. She is a master in the art of self destruction.

Despite eating a Bagel and a Breadstick in the first round of qualifying at Eastbourne, Laura gets a wild card into Wimbledon. A reward for being fit enough to complete the whole match without retiring in the middle.

Hope she can pick up her game fast.

Agree....Lets hope she doesn't fond that button:rolleyes:
When she is on song, she and her tennis is a beautiful site to watch.

Actually her 2011 season was very simillar to this one. She won Brisbane, Paris indors and Madrid and finished in the 4th at RG. Obviously she had just broken the top 10 and expectatinos were not so high, still I believe in her. In the last 5 years she's lost just 3 times at Wimbledon and twice of those with Serena. For me Petra and Serena are the main contenders by far.

I disagree. Last year she met an in form Venus in the 3rd and she still prevailed. At Wimbledon she doesn't need a good draw unless they mess with the seedings which I don't expect will affect the first 2 seeds.

She is the best grass player not named Williams. :D

I don't think the draw is a deciding factor either.

RE: Wimbledon 2015 (Women)

The Committee decided not to mess with the seedings and went for simply maintaining the ranking order. So, I have to look somewhere else for a controversy.

Glad that Victoria managed to enter into top 24. At least she will be spared of a 3rd round match against top 8.
