Melani Oudin lost in the 2nd rd of quals today. So, did Romanian Sorana Cristea.

Melanie and Sorana are apart of the same club now. "We not excel. We rode our wave of press and publicity and now we just show up and stink it up."

Oudin is actually good on grass and has had health problems for two seasons.I would take a healthy Melanie over Coco or Madison Keys....Sorana is another mindless ballbasher no surprise there.

Second Round of quals is over. The last and final round of quals is scheduled for tomorrow.

Notable Winners: Tamira Paszek, Sahara Peer, Kumkum, T. Hsieh, Bethanie Mattek Sands

Notable Losers: Melanie Oudin, Soran Cristea, M. De Britto, Grace Min.

Tamira Paszek has a nice game and she usually shines on grass. I don't know why we don't see her more often.

De Britto once registered the record setting mark in decibels beating out both Maria and Vika

The final round of qualifying tourney is over. Unlike in Men, there are only 12 qualifiers in Women.

Notable Winners: Tamira Paszek, Bethanie Mattek Sands, Hsieh, O. Govrotsova.

Notable Losers: Kumkum, Sahara Peer.

This is where the seeds landed in Wimbledon - Serena, Venus; Sharapova, Azarenka in top half - tough.

This looks fairly balanced to me. It sucks to see Venus and Serena could meet early, but Venus has to get there first which isn't a given. It seems the side that might be trickier is the bottom half as there are many spoilers down on that side like Radwanska, Kerber, Lisicki, Giorgi who won on grass recently, and maybe Keys. Azarenka still might be a question mark with her foot injury and whether she recovered from that. I think everyone has potential land mines in their draws.

Potential QF:

Serena vs Ana
Maria vs Lucie
Caroline vs Simona
Makarova vs Petra

The only ones that sound interesting are Maria vs. Lucie and Caroline vs. Simona. Lisicki the French Open winner slayer is on the other side of the draw, hahaha.

It's not balanced in regards to slam winners. All the slam winners on the top half of the draw except for Petra/Sveta. The top half is stacked w/ them: the Williams, Maria, Vika, Sam and Ana.

Fellow Members of Laura's Legion:

Laura faces E. Rodina in R1. Might be winnable assuming Laura can play. Second round is tough with she having to face either Jelans Jankovic or E. Vesnina (most probably JJ). If by some miracle, Laura clears the second round, Petra Kvitova will mark the end of her road in Round 3.

That may be true. However, almost all of the spoilers (players who are capable of creating an upset, but not winning the tournament) are in the bottom half: Liscki, Kerber, Cornet, Keys and Paszek. The only exception is Pironkova who is in Ana's Octet.

Pova has the easiest quarter, with only Pliskova posing as a threat. Most of the dangerous players are in the bottom half. The rest are in the top half, but in Serena's quarter. I don't see Halep, Ana, Makarova, Safarova reaching the quarters.

I hope Petra and Serena show up fit.

I don't agree w/ that. She has Konta in the first round. While I don't expect an upset, Konta is a British hopeful who is very good on grass. She could definitely make it interesting. Maria also has Daria lurking in the 3R.

I don't see Konta or Daria (injured?) upsetting Pova, while several players in the bottom half can. Would players be more worried meeting Konta or Lisicki, Kerber, Keys? This is a rhetorical question.

I think if you look at the draw as a whole it is balanced. If you look at it quarter by quarter, it appears unbalanced.

We're still having weird draws because a lot of the top 10 seeds are slumping overall this year. I'm not sure that will even out until the end of the year when we really see the surging players get into the top 15 or 10 even.

Theres a lot that is hard to predict because a lot of players are coming into Wimbledon with questionable conditions.

Maria is in the top half but I'm not sure it matters because she has done jack squat on grass since she lost to Petra in '11.

Vika is questionable after her foot injury. I expect another run from Bencic.

Aga is doing well in Eastbourne but does it really matter? She's great on grass but she also flamed out in her first grass tourney. I just don't know if I believe she's going to make moves here.

Halep REALLY needs to right her ship at Wimbledon.
