We are not prohibited from traveling across states. Maybe that's different in the UK. And I have checked with my state and the one that I would travel to. Here's what I don't understand is different, and "selfish:" I can go out and run, keeping social distancing. I can go to the grocery store, keeping social distancing. If I can get to my family home in the north, likewise keeping social distancing, and then quarantining for 14 days, why is that different? I'm not swanning into my weekend home for a few days, or enjoying a day at the beach, just to get out of the house. I'm not even trying to get out of NYC to save myself. I'd rather stay home, tbh. But I have a sick relative. In order to help with her care, I have to get there, quarantine for 2 weeks, and then I can help. I would tell the local police I'm there, because I already alerted them when the house was empty. My neighbor has encouraged me to come. I don't need your permission or that of @Jelenafan to decide what I'll do. But I did think it was odd from you, so libertarian, to be so adamant on this point.
It's good that you clarified the situation in the end, but I must say one of the things that I've always respected about you is that you're very front forward. This time you approached this issue in a very strange way that seems very unlike you. If you had explained yourself clearly from the start this would have seemed far less controversial, at least to me. Nothing comes before protecting family.

As for your comment about libertarians I think perhaps you misunderstand what we're about. We believe that government should be limited to non-existent in both our social and economic lives to the greatest extent possible, but we also very strongly believe in law and community. Perhaps more so than others in fact, because we believe that laws should be used to create the social infrastructure through which human action and endeavour enables us to progress. We believe this is the optimal way and not State coercion or theft. If scientists believe that social distancing and limited outside activity is what is needed to pull us out of this, and people wilfully disregard the guidance, then don't expect me to be anything but extremely hostile to those who would put their personal desires over the greater good. You would be terribly wrong to believe otherwise.

And finally... (and here's a clue, try to memorise the numbers before making your attempt. Obviously you can do this as many times as you want). Perhaps screen shot your time to prove how good you are! I haven't been able to do better than 56 seconds :anxious-face-with-sweat:, but one of my friends a head of trading at a major investment bank has 32secs! Don't know how the b*stard managed that.... :face-with-symbols-on-mouth:

It was the "hand of god"... I would have expected that behaviour from Maradona fans, not Pele zealots!
Those Brazilians are as dirty as the Argentians. Remember what they did to a young Maradona in '82?

Look, when you posted about the woman who got sacked for going to her other home, I was just planning a move, and how to do it safely. I had just begun to hear the notion that some communities wish that people from big cities wouldn't come, so I started to waver and rethink, even though my neighbor in the country was one of the first to suggest I might be better off up there. I didn't feel it quite appropriate to turn it into my own personal situation, so I posed a "for-instance." Then I added the detail about an ill family member, but you and Jelenafan were quite adamant that it was still selfish and wrong, which I found a bit surprising. Anyway, I may have left it late, and I don't think now is a good time to make a move.

I respect you too much to try to parse this any further.

IF I had a close relative ailing or dying who needed my assistance, I might decide to travel to aid them. Thus my previous post about not having a self righteous stance about this.

I hope your loved one is getting the aid and comfort they need. These are difficult times, to understate wildly.

33.702 now. It's all about practice. Played for an hour and a half solid. I'll have to pull back from this before it becomes a Tetris-like problem.
sounds like a serious problem already :face-with-tears-of-joy: Very addictive!
