It's OK to refer to Cilic's past doping incident, since that's a matter of public record, but it's not OK to imply he's currently doping.

Federer bought it, Steve Tignor bought it.

Tennis-wise, he's much more easy on the eye than JW, and also has a more suited temperament for big matches. He'll be a respectable opponent for Novak in the semis, but I don't expect him to win there...

Agreed cilic is the tougher opponent, but should be ok, unless cilic has another insane serving day like last years semi and final.

I think his upper-limit this year is the semi. last year he just caught fire and probably couldn't stop himself. This year, he's not going to surprise anyone, and Novak has a good record against him too...

EDIT: But Novak WILL be hoping that Tsonga turns this one around, in a long bloodbath struggle...

I can remember a couple of hard matches against Cilic, including 5 setters. Unfortunately someone completely messed up the ATP site, the h2h is no longer researchable.

It's cumbersome but if you go to Players Home, then scroll down you see two players H2H, and a little magnifying glass to the left and right of the players, you can add names and do a search. it's 13-0 for Novak, I didn't think it was that bad...

So you believe his story?

I don't believe that these things are all as simple as saying that what Cilic did is the same as Justin gatlin, for example. Federer believes him - does that make a difference to you?

Federer would look really bad if he said he didn't believe Cilic's story. It wouldn't look good if he gets exonerated by the ATP but then gets accused by its most famous player...

Roger knows damn well there's a lot of doping in tennis. Hence why he's been the only one who has asked for samples to be kept for 8 years. Problem is they don't have any intention of either (a) testing properly or (b) re-testing in tennis.

That's nonsense. Cilic didn't get exonerated by the ATP, he was banned. Federer didn't have to say anything, but instead he said that Cilic was stupid, but he didn't believe he was the type of man to cheat. It's unambiguous...

Cheers, thanks. It was actually only that 5 setter at wimbledon that went the distance. I do remember the RG match was not easy either.

I think the h2h is slightly misleading if they would play here, but yeah should be ok.

I think the last few have been very easy for Novak, but Marin likes this tourney. he won't go down easy, but eventually he will go down.

Actually, he'd have preferred to make short work of Tsonga, but now anything could happen...

The samples should be kept as long as they can keep them in proper condition. Reminds me of the Fuentes affair where the judge destroyed all the evidence. What a disaster.

The ban which was first exposed by Croatian media was shortened because they bought his reason for the failed test. Anyways out of respect to the admins I will drop the subject since it does not relate to this match.

Has JW ever come back from two sets down in a slam, and won? Anybody know?

Thank you.

If anyone wants to continue discussing doping, here's the thread "General Doping/PEDs Discussion".

Sadly I'm all too aware. The deathless one handed the match to him at Wimbledon 2011.

That was the epitome of watching a train wreck in slow motion.
